Hi All, Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth. You can say the same thing about the program that I have used for years, which is Ancestral Quest. It's easy and fun to use. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to get your data in and out in a useable form. Has capabilities to include all your sources. I have used it to create my web pages with a click of a few buttons, which include my WALLACE line. Also has a user group forum for all your questions and problems. They have a demo version so you can try before you buy and it is only about $39.99 US. They can be found at http://www.ancestralquest.com also they are linked from my web page (URL below). I am searching for a Sylvester WALLACE who married Stella FLAGG in Perry, ME area around 1900. They had a child named Leon Kenneth WALLACE. ANy info appreciated. Cindy
My line is William Wallace b. 1802 in TN, lived in Lincoln Co, TN m. Mahala Satterfield. A Samuel Wallace (not sure if and how related to William) m Mahala's sister Hannah. William and Mahala had several children, but after Mahala died William remarried to Charlotte Smith and they had several more (including one named after his first wife Mahala). William moved on to Lauderdale Co,. AL, but some of his children stayed in Lincoln Co. and some moved on to TX. The only thing I have to go on in researching William's ancestors is that he is listed as b. in TN, the poss. family name of Samuel (let's face it, every line has a William, maybe 10, LOL) and the family story that he was related to "Bigfoot Wallace" of the TX rangers ( a cousin's g. aunt remembers him visiting when she was little ) Is it poss that my William is from the line of Andrew who m. Margaret Calbreath? the time, family names, and place all fit. William and Mahala's children were: 1) Josiah Preston 2) William, Jr 3) Samuel Marion 4) Thomas Yeatman 5) Mary E. 6) Hannah 7) Sarah 8) Hessey L. 9) Franklin R. Children w/ Charlotte Smith 10) Mahala 11) Sampson Houston 12) Lushion Holden 13) Adie Eugene 14) Ethel 15) Curtis Thanks for any help Susan
Jim, Im not sure if I follow you, but as stupid as I am, it is no suprise. Are you saying that ALL of Samuel Wallace and Rebecca Andersons children would have gone to TN after the death of Samuel? I know that Samuel and Rebecca had a son James (b. 1/1/1778) who married Elizabeth "Betsy" Huffman (Hoffman). They had a son Samuel (b. 9/26/1817) who was still in the Rockbridge (Lexington) area after the Civil war, as My GGrandfather related stories about going to visit Samuel and Elizabeth Smith at their tannery in Lexington. This would have been about 1874 or so. At some point this Wallace group moved to Union or Zenith, Monroe Co, WV. However, I have always been under the impression that James Wallace died in Lexington. Now, this would not be the first time I had things messed up, and I dont have alot of documentation on this information, but I can say that at least some of the Samuel Wallace and Rebecca Anderson clan stayed in VA until far after the Civil War. I dont think that this helps, but I would love to share further information if you need it. He married Margaret CALBREATH in 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. Andrew and Margaret were present in Augusta, VA for the settlement of Margaret's father's estate, Thomas CALBREATH(also spelled GALBRAITH ), in 1801. Nothing is known of them until the 1820 census of Smith County, Tennessee where Margaret/Peggy appears as the head of household suggesting Andrew was deceased prior to 1820. Andrew and Margaret had a son, who I am descended from, named Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE. He was born in 1805 and claims Tennessee as his place of birth. Thomas M.WALLIS/WALLACE married Jane Calbreath, his cousin, in ca. 1825. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE appears in census of 1840, 1850, Macon County, Tennessee as head of household with Margaret as a member of his household. Possible siblings of Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE are : Andrew W. Jr., David or David M., James, Jefferson, William C.and Sarah. Thomas M. WALLACE and Jane (CALBREATH) WALLACE had the following children: Mary L. Wallace born ca 1836 TN Andrew Smith Wallace born 1837 TN, Mar. Louisa Holcomb, died 1923 KY William Alexander Wallace born 12-3-1839 TN, Mar. Eliza Crantz/Krantz, died 6-30-1919 KY Thomas Wallace born 1841 TN Hugh B. Wallace born 1843 TN Sarah Jane Wallace born 7-20-1847 died 12-12-1890 KY, I have strong feelings that Andrew WALLACE was the son of Samuel WALLACE, son of Peter WALLACE in spite of the conflict over the Andrew WALLACE that married Jane BLAIR being Samuel's son. Following this then, Andrew would have followed his Uncle John, brother to Samuel, to Anderson County, Tennessee with the rest of his brothers and sisters after Samuel's death in 1786. Samuel Wallace and Rebecca Anderson Wallace's children: Elizabeth b. 1766-7 married Charles Grigsby February 18, 1790.+ADs- Andrew b. abt. 1770. married to Margaret Calbreath/Galbraith/Galbreath, March 3, 1796+ADs- James b. abt. 1773 (his father was fighting already in Lord Dunmore's war in 1774, and then he was assigned elsewhere by 1776) married Elizabeth Huffman Nov. 12, 1801+ADs- William b. abt. 1781-2. Samuel WALLACE left a very young family in 1786 who surely would have followed Samuel's only remaining brother John, to Anderson County. Please help people, I know that Anderson county was loaded with Wallaces. Any information regarding Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE is dearly needed. Will exchange information. James Wm. Time to repost: Searching for descendents of L.B. (Libb or Lib) Wallace. Born abt 1859 in Texas. Married Ora F. abt 1879. Have record of one male child from this marriage: S.L. Wallace born abt Jan 1880. Libb's father: Captain W.W. Wallace of North Carolina and Edwards County, Texas. Libb's mother: Loretta Higgins of Illinois and Texas. One family legend says Libb went to Alaska and was never heard from again. Another says that Libb was killed while working on rail road in one of the western states. U.S. Census 1880 San Patricio County Texas shows Libb, wife, Ora and son, S.L., living with Libb's father, Captain W.W. Wallace and second wife of Captain Wallace, C.A.S. Wallace. Libb had a sister, M.E. Wallace born abt 1852. Have reason to believe this sister and the mother died in Yellow Fever epidemic abt 1869. Have a photo of Libb and he appears to be aroung 16 years of age. He was on crutches. He had a withered leg and what appeared to be a crippled arm. Family legend says he was a cripple. I will share any information I have. Willard Sensiba El Paso, Texas [email protected]

Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE. 1766-7 married Charles Grigsby February 18, 1790.; Andrew b. abt. 1770. married to Margaret Calbreath/Galbraith/Galbreath, March 3, 1796; James b. abt. 1773 (his father was fighting already in Lord Dunmore's war in 1774, and then he was assigned elsewhere by 1776) married Elizabeth Huffman Nov. 12, 1801; William b. abt. James Wm. Thompson, age 28 male, farmer, $1,000., TN Lavina, age 38, female, OH Squire F., age 2, male, IL Mary E., age 2/12, female, IL William A. Wallace, age 22, male, IN John F. Wallace, age 20, male, IN Catharine A. ", age 16, female, IN Margaret J. ", age 14, female, IL Charles B., age 12, male, IL Lavina has formerly been married to Charles J. Wallace and the family was in Coles Co. for the 1840 census. Lavina married John Thompson in 1845 in Jefferson County. I do not know what happened to Charles. In the on-line Illinois Marriage Records, I found a John F. Wallace married a Sarah Jane Silor on 26 January 1853 in Madison Co. Is this the same John as above? William A. Wallace is my direct ancestor. I would love to be able to fill out another branch of someone's tree. William married Rebecca Coffelt in Jasper Co. Missouri in 1861. According to later census records, their oldest two children were born in Illinois - Emma Frances and John Thomas - where is what I am searching for. I believe that the family moved back to MO for the duration of the Civil War and returned to Missouri by 1868. Thanks for any assistance! Claire Wichelmann

Hi, I am trying to fill in the lines for the Wallace family who settled in Adams Co., Ohio from either Md or Va about 1837. Thomas 1776-1845 and John William 1779-1840, with sister Mary Polly 1785-1856, were the children of William Wallace 1756/9-aft 1785. Thomas 1married Margaret and had 10 children (I have 3!) and 2m Bopsy Ervin. John William m. 1801 Va Katherine Gray and had 13 children. Mary Polly m. James Burns 1786 Va - 1855 Adams Co. Ohio. Thanks, Jeanne
My grandfather, John Henry Wallace was born in Indiana around 1859. His parents were William and Martha Wallace. Siblings: Albert, George, and Rhodie that I know of. John Henry married Celia Jane Smith in Missouri. Celia was born in 1873 in Missouri. I do not know who her parents were. by 1903 John and Celia were in Cherokee County Oklahoma. I do not know when they moved to Oklahoma, but my mother, Arlie Ann Wallace was born there in 1903. She went to Lost City School. She married my dad, Art Freeman, in Cherokee Co. I would like to find out more about my elusive grandparents. They were long gone when I was born. My mother rarely spoke of her family. I do know she was related to families named Gross, Lowe and Watson. If any of these names sound familiar, I would sure appreciate a hand-up in this family tree. Jan Paul
Help!! I am looking for information on Margaret Ellen Wallace, born March 27, 1870 in Uxbridge Ontario. She married William (Wilmot) Isaac Vanzant on June 28, 1894 in Stouffville. They had four children Mary Maud, Cora May, Harold Frederick and Annie Margaret. She died on November 23, 1905 during child birth in Allandale (Barrie) Ontario. Any help would be great as I have nothing on her parents or siblings. Thanks......Tracy ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
