The problem being is the services held there were in 1937, so they may not even be around anymore. Is there anyone in Salt Lake City on this list that knows anything about this mortuary? 3. I wonder if there is a connection. I’m searching for parents or siblings of Elizabeth Frances (or Frances Elizabeth) WALLACE, b in either Champaign Co., OH (death certificate says) or Muskingum Co., OH (Civil War pension application says) in 1844 or 1845. There is no record of her in either county. She died in 1922 in Clark Co., OH. She married Harman (Hiram) E. Ervin 3 Dec 1861. They had 10 children. I have info to share on descendants. I’m getting close to offering a REWARD if anyone can find this g-grandmother of mine. I’ve been searching for her for more than seven years without any luck, covering census records of some 25 of Ohio’s 88 counties for the years 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880. Anyone have any suggestions? He was in the Attakapas District of Spanish Louisiana in the early 1780s, living on property of a Thomas Berwick. He left the areas before 1785 and I have no trace of him. I believe he may have been the brother of Berwick's wife Helena Wallace. Do you know anything about the parents of the Jesse Wallace you show born in North Carolina? It's a very long short, but there may be a connection. Catharine Vinson

    2. Thought I'd repost this to see if anyone can help. My Wallace line (confirmed) starts with Benjamin Harrison Wallace. He was born 1790 probably in Lunenburg Co., VA. He married Emality (Lettie) Wilkes (daughter of Minor Wilkes, Jr. & Phebe White) in Lunenburg Co., VA (I believe) in 1811. They subsequently moved to Cabell Co., VA (now WV). I have tons of documentation on their descendents. Benjamin had 2 known siblings, Robert & Mary/Polly. Both siblings also married into the Wilkes' family. Benjamin's mother was Susannah (last name unknown). His father is thought to have been either Hugh son of William or William son of Hugh. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Anybody needs information that I have on the above is welcome to it. Thanks - Melinda Holley

    3. Hi Claire, I believe we have corresponded before. I am a descendant of William Wallace, b. 1780, who was the older brother of Robert Bruce Wallace. My William Wallace went to Coles County Illinois in the 1830's. He bought land but he also owned the Wallace tavern. It was referred to as the famous Wallace tavern. I don't know what it was famous for nor do I know if it was located close to a river. I do have a Madison Wallace in my data base that was a son of Robert Bruce, but I have no information on him. The information I have on Robert Bruce Wallace and descendants comes from a Robert Wallace in NC who is a descendant on this line. He may still be on the Wallace list. If you are able to solve the mystery please let me know as I would like to add it to my data base. 3. I am trying to unravel a bit of a mystery as reported in our Wallace Family Lore. There were three brothers (perhaps 4) that migrated from Daviess County, Indiana to Illinois. One of the brothers was a bit of a gambler and drinker. He went down into the river bottom(where all of the gambling dens and taverns were) where he got into a fight. He evidently thought he had killed someone, and told his brothers that he had to leave the country, before the sheriff got him. He tied his shoes around his neck, jumped into the river and swam to the other side, where he waved at his brothers, and that was the last time that they ever saw him. Does this story fit in with any of your Wallaces? This story came from a descendant of Charles Wallace who was the son of Robert Bruce and Rachel Wallace. I had heard the story of a brother of Charles, named Madison, who went west and was never heard from again. Another person has him being killed in a duel in Arkansas. BTW, I have found reference to a Madison Wallace on the 1840 Madison Co., IL Census (Marine Twp., page 79) and another reference on the 1860 Vermilion County, IL census ( Middle Fork Twp., page 959). I have not seen the documents, just the index. Any connections? Claire Wichelmann
