    1. [WALLACE-L] Virginia Wallaces to Kentucky
    2. scarlett
    3. Hello, Tanya? I have been on this site since May or June of '99 and have received one message which might eventually help me. It seems that most on this list are descendants of Wallaces in Texas, Tenn., Georgia and Arkansas. Mine are Virginians, I have very little info on them in Loudon Co, tho' I suspect they were in Vva. quite a few years, as all other lines of my family were and all were British Isles Protestants. You are correct. Nothing much is happening, too many who don't tie into others! I notice quite a few are unsubscribing also. I can't help you either and I am sorry. Scarlett

    3. Hi Vicki, That must be what we are all doing - why there is no email. I personally have found that there are that many missing Wallaces that remain brick walls, that they are also unable to help anyone else. I have to unsubscribe this afternoon, to go holidaying, but will be back in a couple of weeks. I have a William Wallace that appeared in Australia at marriage in 1868. His death certificate states he was born 1842 in Wigan, Lancaster, and his father was Thomas. But, have found evidence of neither! 3. Dear Donna Autrey, My great grandmother's father was also John Wallace from Holmes County Mississippi. He was married to someone by the name of Necissa ( Narcissa, probably) and we don't know her maiden name. My great grandmother's name was Lucinda Coats Wallace and she was born in 1833 in Madison county, Ms. which was later partially included in Holmes County, Ms. She married my Great grandfather James Archer Wilkes in about 1855. Go to usgenweb.com and get into Holmes county, Ms. and check the cemeteries there---you might find some familiar names. If my great grandmother had any older sister or brothers, it is not know, but she certainly could have and we just don't know about them. She had a brother by the name of George Washington Wallace who fought for the Union during the War of Northern Agression and when he came back home, he was not popular, so he moved to Texas--Nesbit, Robertson County, Texas where he lived out his life. She had another brother by the name of John Frederick Wallace--he lived and died in Holmes County, Ms. She had a sister by the name of Susanna, born in 1834 Lucinda was born in 1833. It would be interesting if this turned out to be a match, wouldn't it. Sincerely, Suzanne Shuttleworth Coats "Donna L. 3. Hi David, At what time period did they come from Scotland? and did they go to Northern Ire first? Then to America? Curious.I know that most of the Wallace/Wallis name in Ireland are given to be of Scottish extraction. By northern Wallis/Wallace's, mine started out in Leicester, Ma, Worc area, Colrain, Mass, and Littleton, New Hampshire, St. Albans, Vermont, My grandmother was born in North Littleton,NH., Malden, Mass. I do not find any mention of Canada or any of the other states listed in my tree--so far! 3. Yes, the Wallis search is a tough one. I have only northern Wallis families and cannot find a connection to any southern ones. I am sure they are connected in Ulster/Northern Ireland, or Scotland. I am in the line of James of Coleraine, Ma., from Antrim, Ire. I am sure they came over from Scotland, but have not found proof of that as of yet. Guess it is time to search that area. Good luck Jim, with your southern WAllace/Wallis. SAndy

    2. James Wm. Wallace
    3. Wake up fellow WALLACE'S. "Scots wha hae wi Wallace Bled." I fear we have all lost heart in our search for our ancestors. I, for one, have been looking for my ANDREW so hard I think I have been missing a lot of detail. Before listing my query, loosen up a minute. I know that my 2nd great grandfather was Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE and I'll not repeat the double spelling again. But I don't know any of his siblings. Because his parents were married in 1796 and he born in 1805 then We know damn well he had several brothers and sisters. Yes, and they're related to a whole lot of ya'll. Looking at the census records from 1820 to 1860 and land grants, I have found a number of Wallace's who could be related as brother and sister and they are listed below. Please have another look at them and see if we might connect. Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE. He married Margaret CALBREATH in 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. Andrew and Margaret were present in Augusta, VA for the settlement of Margaret's father's estate, Thomas CALBREATH(also spelled GALBRAITH), in 1801. Nothing is known of them until the 1820 census of Smith County, Tennessee where Margaret/Peggy appears as the head of household suggesting Andrew was deceased prior to 1820. Andrew and Margaret had a son, who I am descended from, named Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE. He was born in 1805 and claims Tennessee as his place of birth. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE married Jane Calbreath, his cousin, in ca. 1825. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE appears in census of 1840, 1850, Macon County, Tennessee as head of household with Margaret as a member of his household. Possible siblings of Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE are : Andrew or Andrew W., David or David M. James, Jefferson, William C.and Sarah. Thomas M. WALLACE and Jane (CALBREATH) WALLACE had the following children: 1. Mary L. Wallace born ca 1836 TN 2. Andrew Smith Wallace born 1837 TN, Mar. Louisa Holcomb, died 1923 KY 3. William Alexander Wallace born 12-3-1839 TN, Mar. Eliza Crantz/Krantz, died 6-30-1919 KY 4. Thomas Wallace born 1841 TN 5. Hugh B. Wallace born 1843 TN 6. Sarah Jane Wallace born 7-20-1847 died 12-12-1890 KY, Margaret Wallace and her son Thomas M. Wallace were possibly in Blount County, TN prior to settling in Smith County, TN which later became Macon County. Thomas removed to Simpson County, Kentucky between 1850 and 1860. Any information is dearly needed. Will exchange information. Jim Wallace, in Michigan Õ¿Õ [email protected]
