    1. [WALLACE-L] Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE
    2. James Wm. Wallace
    3. Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE. He married Margaret CALBREATH in 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. Andrew and Margaret were present in Augusta, VA for the settlement of Margaret's father's estate, Thomas CALBREATH(also spelled GALBRAITH), in 1801. Nothing is known of them until the 1820 census of Smith County, Tennessee where Margaret/Peggy appears as the head of household suggesting Andrew was deceased prior to 1820. Andrew and Margaret had a son, who I am descended from, named Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE. He was born in 1805 and claims Tennessee as his place of birth. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE married Jane Calbreath, his cousin, in ca. 1825. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE appears in census of 1840, 1850, Macon County, Tennessee as head of household with Margaret as a member of his household. Possible siblings of Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE are : David or David M. James, Jefferson, William C.and Sarah. Thomas M. WALLACE and Jane (CALBREATH) WALLACE had the following children: 1. Mary L. Wallace born ca 1836 TN 2. Andrew Smith Wallace born 1837 TN, Mar. Louisa Holcomb, died 1923 KY 3. William Alexander Wallace born 12-3-1839 TN, Mar. Eliza Crantz/Krantz, died 6-30-1919 KY 4. Thomas Wallace born 1841 TN 5. Hugh B. Wallace born 1843 TN 6. Sarah Jane Wallace born 7-20-1847 died 12-12-1890 KY, Margaret Wallace and her son Thomas M. Wallace were possibly in Blount County, TN prior to settling in Smith County, TN which later became Macon County. Thomas removed to Simpson County, Kentucky between 1850 and 1860. Any information regarding Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE is dearly needed. Will exchange information. James Wm. Wallace [email protected]

    1. [WALLACE-L] William & Michael Wallace
    2. Linda Mondy
    3. It's been awhile since I've submitted my information, so thought I would try again. I am seeking information about the following WALLACE/WALLIS families. Michael Wallace born in Tenn. married Nancy Goddard on August 12, 141 in Jefferson Co., IL. Solomon Goddard performed the wedding ceremony. Michael and Nancy had two children: Matilada Ann Wallace born 1847 and Elijah Wallace born 1850. I think both children were born in IL. Michael and Nancy also raised their nephew, George Washington Wallace born March 22, 1844 in Spring Garden, IL (Southern Illinois). William Green Wallace/Wallis born in KY married Catherine Goddard on December 17, 1841 in Jefferson Co., IL. They had one child: George Wasington Wallace born March 22, 1844 in Sothern IL. William Green Wallace died or left the family after the child was born in 1844. Catherine died in 1851 in IL. George Washington went to live with Michael and Nancy. I'm not sure of the relationship other than he was their nephew. Were Michael and William Green brothers or were Catherine and Nancy sisters? George Washington Wallace was married three times. His first wife was Mary Ann Quigly. They were married on September 13, 1866 in Jefferson Co., Missouri. Children: Amanda Cornelius Wallace born July 16, 1865 in IL, Mary C. Wallace born 1868, Nellie Wallace born July 16, 1869 in St. Clair, IL. Nellie married James Arnold and she died May 2, 1885. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Belle Wallace born January 30, 1871 in St. Clair, IL. Lizzie married Thomas Moore and she died March 30, 1959. Nancy Belle Wallace born January 30, 1871 (twin of Lizzie) in St. Clair, IL. Nancy married George Willm on January 8, 1893 and she died April 12, 1940. Mary Ann Quigly died October 20, 1875. George Washington Wallace's second wife was my great grandmother. He married Mary S. Dykes (or Darcus) on October 28, 1875 in Jefferson Co., MO. Mary was a the widow of a man named Crayton and she had one son. Mary was born in Debuque, Iowa. Children of George and Mary: William Wallace born August 28, 1879 married Rhoda Foxton, Hattie Francis Wallace born January 8, 1885 married Hamelton Evertt, Green Washington Wallace born August 21, 1887 in Jefferson Co., MO. Charles Edward Wallace known as Ed born Sept. 18, 1881 in Desota, MO. Ed married Nona Emmons and he died Dec. 24, 1936. Mary S. Dykes Wallace died Feb. 8, 1889 in Silica, Jefferson Co., MO. I can not find where she is buried. George was married the third time to Oregon Hamrick. They had no children; however, she raised my grandfather as his own mother died before he turned two years of age. George Washington Wallace died Feb. 22, 1926 in Desota, Missouri. He was a Civil War veteran having served in IL. He is buried in the Mamoth Cemetery in Desota, MO. Green Washington Wallace known as Wash was my grandfather. He married Edna May Boston on July 7, 1912 in Plato, MO. He died Dec. 22, 1955 in Rolla, MO. Linda Mondy 15395 Slab Springs Dr. Licking, Missouri 65542 [email protected]

    2. As a follow-up because I have inquiries, my earliest traced WALLACE, John Wallace was born in Augusta County, Virginia about 1716.  He died on September 29, 1782 in Rockbridge County, Virginia.    His anscestors were in the Virginia area and then migrated to Fayette, Kentucky and finally to Warren County, Illinois.  I have not traced the family to the point of immigration.  Dawnee Phay McCulley

    3. Cousins, I've seen a lot of these messages as of late. It's really quite simple, the FIRST this you have to do is READ the WELCOME Message you are automatically sent by the mailing computer when you first subscribed. In that message, it clearly tells you that you MUST send a message to: [email protected] ( for the mail list ) or [email protected] ( if you are on digest ) in the subject line, as well as the body, simply type: UNSCRIBE and nothing else, it's that simple! I hope that this clarifies the issue. Thank you, Charles E. 3. Great page Dennis and Lisa, I've just added my web page (URL below) to the WALLACE surname template page at rootsweb about half way down. http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/w/a/WALLACE/ You may want to add yours there too. The first section is for rootsweb home pages, but if you go down under General Links and Search Engines that can be used for all others with home pages. If we could get all those with web pages containing the WALLACE surname to add their URL's there we would have a great resource. ......just a thought :-) Genealogically yours, Alison Forte [email protected] Researching: FORTE, FERRARA, DUDLEY, THOMAS Alison's Genealogy Page: http://www.cadvision.com/fortea > -----Original Message----- > From: Dennis W.
