3. Charles: Personally, I like this list, and have no intention of unsubscribing, but it appears that your instructions, (as shown below), prompt people to type UNSCRIBE .... if a person wants to get off, shouldn't he/she type UNSUBSCRIBE? Maybe this is all you need to do. Thanks Cousins, I've seen a lot of these messages as of late. It's really quite simple, the FIRST this you have to do is READ the WELCOME Message you are automatically sent by the mailing computer when you first subscribed. In that message, it clearly tells you that you MUST send a message to: [email protected] ( for the mail list ) or [email protected] ( if you are on digest ) in the subject line, as well as the body, simply type: UNSCRIBE and nothing else, it's that simple! I hope that this clarifies the issue. Thank you, Charles E. 3. Ilene, So close, yet so far, although a couple of my Wallace ancestors were born in Halifax County, VA, most of them moved on to the Kanawha Valley near were the Kanawha River and the Ohio River meet, in the area of Kanawha, Mason, and Cabell Counties in what is now West Virginia. They lived there when it was still part of Virginia, before the Civil war, and intermarried with several other branches of my Family, Eads, Lockhart, King, Finley, Oleacre... I have not had much luck tracking them down, and many of their children seem to have dissapeared... well moved elsewhere, and I have not yet tracked them to where they settled. I too, have a William Henry Wallis in my tree, unfortunately, he does not match with yours. Well, we have the surname in common and a place of origin, perhaps one day we will connect. Thanks for your reply. Best regards, Tammy ---------original message---------- I am also researching the Wallace/Wallis Line from Halifax County VA. Tandy Wallace(born around 1787) married Mary Wells. One of their childrren was William Henry Wallace who married Narcissia Hall. They went to Dallas County Arkansas. I hav ehad very little success.

Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    2. Tammy Giancola
    3. Hello, I am new to this list and I am hoping to connect with anyone researching along the same Wallace/Wallis Lines: John Wallace, wife Nancy Unknown, settled in Virginia. Their children were: David, William, Henry, Jesse, James, Woodson, Elizabeth, Jane, Nancy. Their eldest son, David Wallis b. October 19, 1800, Halifax County, Virginia m. abt. 1822 Judith Virginia Eads/Eadez b. November 07, 1806, Halifax County, Virginia. Daughter of Joseph Eads and Juda Doss. The David Wallis, Judith Virginia Eads children were: Elizabeth Tamar Wallis, 18 October 1823, married Winston Banner King. Jane Catherine Wallis, 16 November 1826, married Preston King (brother of Winston). James Booker Wallis, 22 October 1825 - 22 October 1825. Nancy C. Wallis, 8 November 1829, Judith V. Wallis, 01 June 1833, married William Lockhart. David A. Wallis, 25 October 1835, married Ann Withers. Mary May Wallis, 11 December 1852, Jesse Wallis, 19 October 1837, John P. Wallis, 20 February 1848, Isaac Wallis 02 April 1841, Sarah Wallis, 3 April 1846, Joseph Wallis, 18 February 1844, William Henry Wallis, 17 June 1831, married Mary Emily Guise/Gise. Also, I have another brief Wallace Line: The Ancestors of Tamar Wallace: Tamar Wallace, was the daughter of Luke Wallace and Hannah Oldaker. Luke Wallace, was born sometime between 1742-1786 and probably died between 1783-1832. He married Hannah Oldaker on May 25, 1795 in Bedford County, Virginia. Hannah Oldaker was born between 1746-1788 and died between 1783-1840. She was the daughter of John Oldaker and Martha Tullos. The Following is excerpted from, "History of the Great Kanawha Valley", Vol. II, 1891, pg. 73-74, (originally transcribed by Homer P. King – 1959). "Her father [Luke Wallace] was a wagoner during the Revolutionary War, and was one of the first settlers at Fort Charleston [Virginia (now West Virginia)]. He lived in stirring times and often had trouble with the savages which infested the border. John [Oldaker] Oleacres, a cousin of Luke Wallace, had his whole family murdered by the Indians during that bloody period. His [Luke Wallace’s] Brother-in-law, Paton [Oldaker] Oleacres, erected the first water mill on the Kanawha in a very early day." Children of Luke Wallace and Hannah Oldaker are: i. Tamar Wallace, born Abt. 1798; married William King. ii. Patsy Wallace, born Aft. 1799; married Unknown Birch. iii. William Wallace, born Bet. 1800 - 1805. iv. Moses Wallace, born Bet. 1801 - 1806. v. Sally Wallace, born Bet. 1802 - 1807. vi. John Wallace, born Bet. 1803 - 1808. vii. Urena Wallace, born Bet. 1804 - 1809. viii. Abigail Wallace, born Bet. 1805 - 1810. ix. Levi Wallace, born Bet. 1806 - 1811. x. Ephraim Wallace, born Bet. 1807 - 1820. Thanks for any help. Best regards, Tammy L. 1. [WALLACE-L] Andrew WALLACE
    2. James Wm. Wallace
    3. Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE. He married Margaret CALBREATH in 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. Andrew and Margaret were present in Augusta, VA for the settlement of Margaret's father's estate, Thomas CALBREATH(also spelled GALBRAITH), in 1801. Nothing is known of them until the 1820 census of Smith County, Tennessee where Margaret/Peggy appears as the head of household suggesting Andrew was deceased prior to 1820. Andrew and Margaret had a son, who I am descended from, named Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE. He was born in 1805 and claims Tennessee as his place of birth. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE married Jane Calbreath, his cousin, in ca. 1825. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE appears in census of 1840, 1850, Macon County, Tennessee as head of household with Margaret as a member of his household. Possible siblings of Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE are : David or David M. James, Jefferson, William C.and Sarah. Thomas M. WALLACE and Jane (CALBREATH) WALLACE had the following children: 1. Mary L. Wallace born ca 1836 TN 2. Andrew Smith Wallace born 1837 TN, Mar. Louisa Holcomb, died 1923 KY 3. William Alexander Wallace born 12-3-1839 TN, Mar. Eliza Crantz/Krantz, died 6-30-1919 KY 4. Thomas Wallace born 1841 TN 5. Hugh B. Wallace born 1843 TN 6. Sarah Jane Wallace born 7-20-1847 died 12-12-1890 KY, Margaret Wallace and her son Thomas M. Wallace were possibly in Blount County, TN prior to settling in Smith County, TN which later became Macon County. Thomas removed to Simpson County, Kentucky between 1850 and 1860. Any information regarding Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE is dearly needed. Will exchange information. James Wm. Wallace [email protected]
