Hi Gloria - These multiple marriages and Brady-bunch families get confusing. Let's see if we can straighten out the facts. First, regarding Ms. Sauder, try contacting Carol Wallace @ [email protected] Regarding the Reuben Leonard Wallace (1841-1905) you cite below, please note that he was married to: (1) Anna Mear (1841-1925) (2) Lovina Spaulding (1842- ??) As you noted previously - in one memo - Cora Belle Spaulding (1861-1904) was the biological daughter of Lovina & John Orvis Spaulding (I have info on him below). Cora kept the name Spalding (or Spaulding) though she was just a step-daughter of Reuben Leonard Wallace, and they lived in Chicago. Cora married Charles W. Lindsay, date unknown. Do you have that date? I have been researching my grandmother, Florence Wallace from Somerset County PA. She lived in Johnstown, and was married to H Lee Wilson. The MORMON records have a very long Wallace history, showing my grandmother as the daughter of Millard F. Wallace (b 1/13/1856 in W Fallowfield, Chester, PA) and Emma Kester (dead end). It also shows her being married to H Lee Wilson and having two sisters, Mary and Emma. I was totally elated to find such a lengthy Wallace history until yesterday, when I spoke with the records administrator at the Lutheran home in Johnstown, where Florence resided at the time of her death. According to their records, my grandother was born 12/19/1890, whereas the Wallace history I downloaded from the Mormon site shows 8/8/1882 as her DOB. There are a few other dates in this file that seem to be off, but they're Wilson related. Anyone have any of these possible Wallace's in their history that might be able to verify that my Florence Wallace is indeed the one that was daughter of Millard and Emma (the one with the greatly researched line) or am I back to square one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Nancy Wilson

I need to hang my head very low and confess to all of you that I have been so engrossed in researching for my Andrew WALLACE that I have failed to look at my own records for people asking me about a Thomas WALLACE. I did find a Thomas WALLICE on the 1860 census in Simpson County, Kentucky listed as living in the household of my GG Grandfather Thomas M. WALLICE. The spelling is incorrect and should be WALLACE. (Thomas M. has also been spelled WALLIS.) I don't know who his parents are and he is listed last yet older which implies he is not a son but residing in the household. I believe he is a grandson and possibly of Andrew WALLACE, assumed son of Thomas M. Wallace and Jane (CALBREATH) WALLACE. Here is how the census appears: WALLICE T.M. 56 W M TN WALLICE JANE 53 W F TN WALLICE ANDREW S. 23 W M TN WALLICE WILLIAM A. 21 W M TN WALLICE HUGH B. 18 W M TN WALLICE SARAH J. 13 W F TN WALLICE THOMAS 19 W M TN As you can see they were all white, M or F to designate male or female, and born in Tennessee. They had recently removed from Macon County, Tennessee. If Thomas was a son his name would have appeared between William A. and Hugh B. In spite of the questions of his paternity my guess is that his great grandfather in Andrew WALLACE from Augusta County, Virginia. Please forgive my thoughtlessness, Jim Wallace, in beautiful snow covered Michigan. Õ¿Õ [email protected]

Wallace / Martha J. Wallace #26371, Final Decree Sep 15 1898 Book 64 page 464, 465 of *Abstract of Divorce Records 1837-1899 Greene County Missouri Circuit Court Divorces*. Default Decree for Plaintiff. Plaintiff's petition rare, but true, in substance. Plaintiff entitled to the relief prayed for in his petition. James W. Wallace married Martha Garrett Oct 3 1886. Apparently, my gr- grandparents were divorced. Can anyone enlighten me on what the petition might have said and how I might obtain a copy of this. - Also does anyone know what James Wallace's middle name might be? I also ran across this: James A. Tuck / Martha A. Tuck #48276. Div. I. Final Decree Sep 11 1911 Book 103, page 444. Trial by court. Decree for Plaintiff. Plaintiff innocent and injured party. James A. Steve (and Ken and Judy), There are quite a few instances where Wallis was spelled Wallace (or even Walshe), and the onamastic similarities (i.e., the presence of both Nathaniels and Johns) with the Boston-based Wales family led me to check into a potential connection between "our" Wallises and the Nath'l Wales clan last year. However, with reasonable certainty, "our" Nathaniel Wallis is the one baptized in St. Ewe, Cornwall, on July 15, 1632 to a father name John. Several sources (including Nath'l's own death record) give his origin (if not specifically birthplace) as Cornwall and his estimated birth as 1632-4 [Savage's Dictionary, Babson's Histor of Gloucester, and the Beverly VRs]. Given this placement and date range, the baptismal record in St. Ewe, and the fact that there are no other Nathaniel Wallises recorded in Cornwall in the period, I think it's safe to say that Nathaniel of St. Ewe is the same as the immigrant Nathaniel1. However2, the absence of Nathaniel in any other Cornwall records is puzzling and continues to make me wonder whether there might not still be some connection back in England/Cornwall. Nonetheless, the info that I have seen re the Nath'l Wales family of Braintree, Dorchester, Boston, etc. indicates no connection -- nor does any of the info on the Wallises of Essex County. In terms of professions, timing, origins, and naming (beyond their common use of Nathaniel and John -- which are not especially uncommon names), they appear to be unrelated. Perhaps Ken can comment on any data regarding migration between Cornwall and York? I don't know anything on that topic, but it might be useful to have some sense of it. If anything that you've found suggests otherwise, or if I've misread any of the facts as you know them, please let me know. I really appreciate your work and searching. Please continue to pass on any info, ideas, or questions that you have. I too still owe you a more careful search for your James in the Essex property records which I've copied.
