(sorry, couldn't resist) Anyway, Don't unsubscribe! Any of you. The bad guys are not us, nor them. One lone Indianan crossed the border into Wallace territory in retaliation for...well, I think we, actually I (a Wallaces) sort-of crossed the line first. I didn't mean to offend any of their ancestor spirits, and...well...can we just try to forget about it and make peace? It was my fault anyway. Sorry Wallaces. Sorry Indianans. I offer my scalp. No reservation. And, since we've been reprimanded now (by the Indianan Chief) for straying from the topic of geneaology, I must now mention that: my tongue, my mother tells me,is a "terrible" trait passed down through the Wallace line, from my great-grandmother, Jane (Jennie) Wallace Cronin, skipping two generations when the Wallace surname was lost to, first Cronin, then Falihee...until the surname and sarcasm was reborn in me: Jenny Wallace Warsen (on Long Island, NY, where sharp tongues are a common characteristic that Indianans would not understand.) Jane (Jennie) Wallace's father was James Wallace and her Mother Mary Quinn. The town CAHER is listed on one census as the place of their Irish home. Any Wallace's out their have ancestors from CAHER? Or surnamed Quinn? Names descending from her siblings would be Goldfinch, Costello, Beehan (Behan), those from her Cronin connection to: Morahan, Billmeyer, Boyle, O'Brien, Falihee...and two more I forget. jww

    3. In a message dated Tuesday, January 16, 2001 from Lynn Connor; the message states that "This list is for genealogy relating to Indiana only. Other message not related are not tolerated." Maybe I missed something, or I'm just not too bright but I thought I had subscribed to a list relating to the surname Wallace. Am I mistaken? What does Indiana have to do with anything? If this list isn't for researching the name Wallace then I will unsubscribe, as I have no family in Indiana. Kathy Jones

I've been a member of this list for more than a year now and there have been many messages that irritated me -- especially annoying are the ones that don't mention the state or region being searched. But how do I respond? I use my delete key! Which, I may add, is available to all of us. I was happy to send Nancy a cheery post and to remember her in my prayers (no, I am not a religious fanatic.) And I would hope that if I am in need of good thoughts and prayers sometime in the future that people who share my genealogy interest would be happy to send them. And if not, they can use the delete key. The mean spiritedness and hatred I've heard expressed these last few days is not worthy of any of us. And frankly makes me wonder if this is a list I want to belong to. But optimistically, I prefer to believe that the majority of us are kind hearted and caring human beings. 1. Re: [WALLACE-L] A response to Dennis Stein's apology
    2. Steven Wallace
    3. Donna: Thank you for posting this. Whether one believes in the power of prayer or not -- and I certainly do, having seen *many* extended family members and friends healed of cancer and other illnesses, soon after prayers were offered up -- you make an excellent point about the simplicity of the delete key. People involved with online genealogy research are generally the same type of people who are passionately concerned for their loved ones ... and many are on the computer because they need a link to like-minded people ... many of them really *need* their "cyber-buds", for all kinds of reasons, and that's a good thing. Personally, I consider it a privilege to have opportunities to pray for those in need, and I do so regularly. A prayer request - for somebody's health, no less - doesn't even compare to some routine unsolicited "spam" e-mail. Even if it did, the delete key would work just as well. As Jenny mentioned in a previous post, complaining about an unsolicited prayer request is a shocking statement about our times. There is a time to be outspoken. When I see such insensitivity - outright bigotry really - you best believe I will speak up, and get as loud as I must to make the point clear. I hope the rest of you will too. Thanks again, Donna. 3. I just posted this message to the Whatcom County Wa Query Forum, & thoght I'd check here too. My Margaret Wallace was born Mar 25, 1854. She came from Ontario to Vancouver, Canada after her 1873 Marriage to "James Henderson, 30, Railway Section Master" She was possibly (Marriage record) the daughter of Alexander Wallace & Mary, from Scotland. Presbyterian, though I also found a Death record which says: " Ireland.Father: William." To help resolve this conflict I have found information that her brother David, was 6 years older & settled in Ferndale, Washington. Now I have found the following record & wonder if it relates to mine? Yes, I hope to find the details for the following record: 1880 WALLACE, DAVID Whatcom County, WA 272 Ferndale Precinct Federal Population Schedule. 3. Wow again! Lynn Stockard of course has a point, but I'm glad I annoyed the whole slew of descendants from the state of Indiana because this brings up another point, among many, where genealogical research is concerned. This reply, while again valid for its reason, is a perfect example of out modern mentality in relation to our modern, and sorry, but often selfish, state of mind. A genealogical search to satisfy one's OWN curiousity is fine of course but to what avail and whose benefit other than your own or your own progeny? I'm so glad this curt cut-off came up because it gives me the opportunity to point out, again, that a better reason to add to our own naturally self-centered curiousity is that of considering ourselves to be part of a whole. Ny search did not begin that way for me--I'm no saint either--but it has evolved to become one to tell the world (as others are also saying) that we are, in some way, all connected. And though it would hamper our research, and perhaps clog our computers to hear of the troubles of so many others...well, "THAT is what family is for!" And so maybe that is also what geneaology is for. And Lynn, you can't stay mad at me for contradicting you or for being another one to have passed the prayer around; My great-great-grandfather onmy mother's side was John James Falihee and his wife, Catherine Dalton; and they were from Ft. Wayne Indiana. Oh yeah, and my great-great-grandmother on the other side was julia Anna, surname O' added to Connor, which means descendent of Connor. So you see, we are all connected somehow and need to help one another if/when we can, and forget the inconvenience. Jenny Wallace Warsen. (Not the black sheep but maybe the blaaaahbiest sheep in the family) May I please join the Indiana mailing list? ps: Hey Dennis Stein, Did I mention that after my own brain surgery the scans revealed that some part of my tumor had remained? No surprise. It had been attached to the criss-crossing optic nerve, and dared not be removed. Lo and behold though, just as in Nancy's case, the scans six months later showed no tumor at all: I'd started praying again...and mom had friends praying all over the country. Just as we did with Nan. And we may have annoyed a lot of you out there...but you others--the lot that we didn't--may just have heard...and been heard themselves. Time. One of the greatest gifts of charity. jww ---------- From: "Dennis W.
