Hi all, Thank you for the Wallace data of Anson County, that was a very good workup. Anson County had been Bladen before 1749, and becdame Anson then and the area covered all of NC west, and parts of modern SC. A large area. Anyone looking for records in that area will check Mecklenburg Co., NC Montgomery Co., NC, Montgomery split off Stanley County, NC Richmond County, NC And parts of SC. Ouch Wallaces lived in modern Montgomery Co., Mecklenburg Co., Richmond Co., and some moved up into Randolph County, which had been Guilford, and before that Rowan Co. Not to mention Davidson and the rest of the western counties. And Rowan Co split from Anson also...... some Wallaces in Rowan also, In those days a man could become a vagabound and never leave home. The counties just kept changing around them. Another Jesse lived in what became Montgomery County..married a Susannah I forget her last name, records in Richmond..... I stem from William and Chaney Berry Cranford Wallace. Wm born in 1795 his father was a Wm also. The younger Wm bought land for his mother on the Montgomery-Davidison County lines, and on both sides the river. Wm I's mother was Mary, they bought the land from John Morris. Iam
Hi to All, Surnames I'm researching that connect to my WALLACE line are: AUSTIN, GLASS, Ellen __?__ thinking it could be FORT or HOLLIDAY or some like spelling. My grandfather married Ora WALLACE, b. 1883 AR, Ora's father James Richard WALLACE, b. abt 1849/50 LA, Ora's mother is one of James Richard WALLACE's three marriages (I believe Ellen __?__ b. 1852, AR) Ora's grandfather Peter WALLACE, b abt 1828/29 AR, Ora's grandmother Nancy H. AUSTIN, b. abt 1853, AL, Ora's great grandfather is i believe is James Wallace married to Mary Glass can't proof that yet. I've just got out of the Emergency Room so can't write any more on this today, sorry. I've lived with Asthma and COPD since 1980 have been on 3 liter of oxygen since 1996. So what am I saying here, my GOD has so far blessed me with going on 8 years of life that I thought would never happen. In those years I have found countless Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins living and in all kinds of health, and you wouldn't believe the Ancestors I've found that has already gone to my GOD. (I say to my GOD cause I don't know how you believe.) So whether I stay here on earth or go to my heavenly FATHER I will always have a lot of family around me. Sometimes I wonder if I'll still be doing genealogy when I get to Heaven. LOL Jane Richards from Oklahoma
Hello all, I am researching and hoping for informaion on my Wallaces from S. Carolina. I am back to Patrick, father of Bailey, father of Richard in Mississippi. I believe they were with the Moaks and Domineys, but I am not sure. Thanks, Sandy swmcferren@eatel.net
Hi all, Not so big after all. The Wallaces were written about when they came into Anson, and have been well traced back before NC. It was in Anson County, NC and along the SC (Lancaster ?) areas they went native. See Tenn Cousins for a really good work up on the origin of ( Anson Co) Wallace, and proof by deed etc... We lost it when either John, Jesse, or one of the others didn't leave good records. We have them to the 1750s, and from 1779 on. See Montgomery Land grants...Anson land grants. The problem is which of them is the direct line? Besides Wallaces were very involved in the Rev War. Even signed off on the Mecklenburg Declaration. Speaking of Wallaces. Who has Eziekiel? He lived on Rocky River, now in Stanley County, NC. Some think he may be ours. I dont. Who has a Richard? One in anson, one in Randolph...perhaps the same.. Who has a John? (may be mine, died in RW) Who has Jesse? Lived in modern Biscoe NC, in the 1770s, married in Richmond Co. Some think he is ours, I don't. There was a Caleb married a Suggs, came into NC also, from Virginia. Anyone using the name Isham? What about Everet? What about ? Anyone still kicking butt out there? Don't give up. Iam
Do you have any info. on John Wallace born 1730 in PA, or if he left any descendants in PA? I know it's a long shot, but I've been searching for the origins of a John Wallace ca. 1832 in Somerset County, shown living with Susannah Hellman in 1850. Hi Vernetta, I noticed you have an "Edward" in your Wallace line. I have been trying to find anything about my ggrandfather Edward E. Wallace, b. August 12, 1860, d. January 05, 1908. I have a copy of his death certificate which states he was born and died in Toledo, OH, parents unknown. I called the cemetery where he is buried but they have no other information. I have searched for an obituary but found none and have never been able to locate him on any census. He married Rosetta Stephens August 1897. Do you think there could be any connection? I'm getting desperate. I have never been able to make any connection to any Wallace group in the last 10 years of searching and yours is the first "Edward" that I've seen listed. Thanks. Sincerely Kathi
Did your Andrew Wallace leave Virginia? My GGG grandfather Andrew Mathis Wallis died in the Atlanta, GA, area in 1824. He was married to Elizabeth, last name unknown, & had four children, Collen or Collens born sometime before 1818, Edward born about 1818, Cynthia Mahulda born 11 Dec 1822, and Andrew Mathis, Jr. born 2 March 1825. Could there be a possible connection? Vernetta Nelson vbnelson@earthlink.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Wm. My Wallis family came to MO by way of Georgia. I don't know where before that. Their name is sometimes Wallace but the present day spelling is Wallis. My GGGgrandfather was Andrew Mathis Wallis who died in the Atlanta, GA, area in 1824. Would any of this tie into your line? I think we are all fishing in a big pond. There are so many John Wallaces. Part Anson Co, NC, became Mecklenburg Co., NC and then later the lines were redrawn and it became part of York County SC. Confusing isn't it.
