Hello list, It has been a long time since I last subscribed to this list. I am looking for any information on a John Wallace from South Carolina. I was reading a book "Probates Records of South Carolina Volumn 2 Journal of the Court of Ordinary 1771 - 1775 by Brent H. Holcomb, G. R. S. " . In the book on page 307 it had an abstract on John Wallace: Wallace, John Box 44 #.1853. Probate Judges Office. York, S.C. Est. Admin. 11 Nov. 1816, by Thomas Walllace, Robert Watson, Nathaniel Phillips, John Bennett, are bound to the ordinary of York County in the sum of $3000.00. John Wallace and Samuel D. Wallace of Lauderdale Co. Ala. on 29 Nov. 1826 appointed Thomas of same state and county their attorney to receive their share from the estate of John Wallace, decd. Thomas Wallace of Lauderdale Co. Ala. appointed guardian of Catherine and Samuel Wallis. Thomas Farris wife was a dtr. of said decd. ( name written Wallace and Wallis ) Does anyone on this list know anything about these people? I did find a Thomas Farris on the S.C. 1790 census with 1 female in the household with him. I do not know if this is the same Thomas Farris as listed in this abstract. Is there anyone of you that can tell me how and where I might get a full copy of this file and at what cost? I live near Baton Rouge, Louisiana so it is not an option to go to a S.C. state archive or county court house my self.if that is in fact where these records may be housed. Thanks for any help. Estelle Farris

You need to give more information that you have if you want some help. For instance look at this from this standpoint: If you are 80 years old your Grandfather could have been in the Army during the Civil war while if you are a teen he could have been in the Army during the Vietnam era. and anywhere in-between. Give us something to go on. Was he Army stationed nearby for a short while, was grandma on travel to some distant place when she met him -- you get the picture! -----Original Message----- From: Cher2334@aol.com [mailto:Cher2334@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, September 25, 2004 9:29 PM To: WALLACE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WALLACE-L] (no subject) Hi Everyone, I am having a bit of a dilemma finding any info on my Grandfather. Is anyone on this list familiar with this family? 1850 US Census, Polk Township, Newton County, Arkansas. #91 Esther Wallace 67 F South Carolina Mary 11 F Arkansas Jackson 23 M Arkansas I think that Jackson Wallace may be my great great grandfather. I am trying to track down leads to my ggrandmother, Harriet Pearson. I have the following information: In a diary, one of my relatives describes a trip they made in Dec. 1919 to pick cotton for "Mr. Pearson in Liberty Hill at Ardice." Mr. Pearson is identified as "Frank's Uncle Joe Pearson" (Frank was my grandfather). Frank's father, Jefferson Wade Wallace, was married three times and one of his wives was Harriet Pearson (d. 25 Feb. 1881). I presume she was the sister of Joe Pearson. I would appreciate any information on either Joe Pearson or Harriet Pearson, or any leads that would help me fill out that family branch.. John Wallace
