    1. [WALLACE] CADWALLADER - WALLACE Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rebecca and Sue CADWALLADER which was taken at the L. Rue Lemer Studio in Harrisburg, PA about 1882. The girls appear to be about 10-13 years old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Rebecca McCarrell CADWALLADER was b. 21 Dec 1873 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Charles Gerton or Giston CADWALLADER (1840-1909) and Jennie Styles WALLACE (1846 or 1848-1916) who were married 9 Nov 1870 in Philadelphia, PA. Rebecca was one of 8 children born to this couple including, Rebecca; Susan Hemphill; Rebecca McCarrell; Alice Whittaker; Mary Elizabeth; Helen Wallace; Wallace Laird; and Charles Girton or Giston CADWALLADER all born between 1870 and 1887. Rebecca married John Wilson GRAY (1867 or 1868-1950) and they had a daughter, Jane Eliza GRAY KELLOGG (1909-2004 or 2007) and a son Charles GRAY (1911-1990). Rebecca died 3 Sept 1947 in Ardmore, PA and she was buried in West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Susan Hemphill CADWALLADER was b. abt 1872 in Pennsylvania to the same parents. It doesn't appear that Susan married or had any children during her lifetime. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of their family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Hi, I show in my tree that John's father was either John or Robert married to Mary Hollins. On 4/9/2019 10:26 AM, Paul D. The librarian looked, then advised that their copy was missing. I posted a Wanted note on eBay in 2015. A few months ago (4 years later), eBay responded that there was a copy for sale at a high price. After brief negotiation, I got the book. The condition is new so it may be back in production. I find that I had the brothers and relevant descendants already in my tree. The book has augmenting facts for the people. The authors discussed the possibility that the father of the brothers was 'John.' In my tree (correct or not), I show their father as John Wallace and Mary (maiden name possibly Hollins). I show John's father as Matthew I Wallace Sr, born is Ireland as his parents were migrating from Scotland to the Colonies. On William Wallace and Mary Houlton (Holton?), I show them as my 6th GGP. I am always willing to work with collaborators to help me expand and/or correct our trees. I have no record of him before that. His death certificate said he was born in Ireland, but the censuses all said he was born in Virginia in 1789. Have no information on parents and siblings. 1. [WALLACE] Book "Six Wallace Brothers" & Wm Wallace-Ann Houlton

    3. RE: WALLACE Digest, Vol 14, Issue 3 I have a copy of the book "Six Wallace Brothers" by Barton & Gayle. I searched in 2015 and visited Alabama Archives where many said there was a copy. I have looked in World Catalog worldcat.org and found that there are multiple libraries that have the book that you are mentioning. I would recommend going to your local library and asking of they can order the book for you through InterLibrary Loan. If the libraries are not willing to lend the book, they many be willing to copy pages for you. If you have not gone to HathiTrust or Google Books, do that as well. Good luck getting the book. Do you know if there is a way to get a copy of the book, or if you have the book, are you able to look up the inforatmion that I was looking for, in particular, some proof of when William Wallace married Ann Holton, and where WIlliam came from and when he died or a will? 3. Can't help you. Sorry.   I used the St Louis library extensively and  didn't encounter that book. Im descended from Andrew Wallace who married Elizabeth Arisman in Nelson County,  VA in 1815. I have no record of him before that.  His death certificate said he was born in Ireland, but the censuses all said he was born in Virginia in 1789.  Have no information on parents and siblings. Sorry, I can't help you.  I do not have the book and did not know of it's existence,  I will save your email in case I do find information.  My family is all from south Arkansas as are my cousins who are apparently from a different line.  My maternal line is all Davis and Pennington.  Two aunts married Moseleys who were cousin and two sisters married Wallaces who are kin on the primary level.  I have very little information and do not have the resources to go through the costly web sites.  I know Houston has a dedicated genealogical library but I wasn't able to find anything there.  Probably because I didn't really know where to start.  If you think there might be anything else I can help with, I would love to be able to help you.  DOC  (Larry Wallace-Tulsa, OK). 3. Thank you. I will keep this. The only record of religion that I have on my Francis Wallace and Sarah Alexander is that they attended an Anglican Church when they lived in Ontario Canada, where their children were baptized.
