    1. [WALEWIS-L] Washington State Legislation passes the House and Senate

    3. The information below my signature was sent by Representative Patricia Lantz and received this morning. Another unanimous vote for our legislation! Again; the bill requires county auditors to track cemeteries within Washington as they do all other properties and to identify cemeteries as such on titles/deeds/records. You can help by visiting our web site and looking through your county's page to see if you can provide a location for the cemeteries listed there. Once a cemetery is identified as a specific piece of property (or on a specific piece of private land), the county auditor will be notified by our association and the appropriate title or deed will be notated (this WILL take time!). Visit http://www.rootsweb.com/~wapsgs/WSCA/cemeteri.html . Once you have located a cemetery you would like to provide information for, click on 'Change a Cemetery' and submit the new information. If that doesn't work send an email to andimac@oz.net . I'd like to thank each of you who have helped WSCA and myself -- without your help, I doubt we would have accomplished so much! Andi MacDonald ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------- Good news! On April 19, 1999, Substitute House Bill 1951, "Protecting Remains in Abandoned Cemeteries," passed the House Concurrence Calendar with a unanimous vote (97 Yeas, and 1 excused). The measure will now be sent to the governor for his action. Once that date is scheduled, we will be notified and, in turn, will notify you to come to the governor's office for the bill signing ceremony. Please know, all who assisted toward passage of this bill are welcome to be present for the bill signing, as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------
