    3. Rodney, #260 William Stinson b 1831 RCV is the son of John Stinson, Jr., my gggrandfather. Sabrina G. Claypool b 1835 was his wife. This William was the brother of my ggrandfather, James Stinson b. 1844 who is listed in the 1870 RCV Census. His wife, Melissa Jane Thompson b. 1/28/1841 RCV d. 12/14/1925 Ajlune, Lewis Co., WA. d/o John Thompson, Jr. and Jane Stinson. The Rachel Stinson in the Census is James' mother Rachel DRAKE Stinson. I have no knowledge of who Martha Wilson might be. The John Stinson listed in the 1870 RCV Census is John R. Stinson b.1846 s/o of John, Jr. and brother to James and William. He married 2/7/1865 RCV Cosby McKinney b. abt 1840 d/o Polly Mckinney. John Thompson is John Thompson, Jr., my gggrandfather, b. 1805 RCV d. 11/7/1884 RCV s/o John Thompson, Sr. and Virginia Jane Fletcher. He married abt 1831 RCV Jane Stinson b1807 d. bet 1874-1880 d/o Robert Stinson and Amy Kelley. I believe that the children, Melissa and Johns listed in the 1870 RCV census in John, Jr.'s household are probably their grandchildren and the children of their daughter Anna who married Samuel Stinson s/o John Stinson, Jr. and Rachel Drake. I can't prove this, but have no other plausible explanation at this time. 3. Rodney, My belief is that the Stinsons did not reside in WV prior to the 1893 trip to WA. They were residing in Russell Co. (Actually right on the Russell and Buchanan line, on Big A Mountain). I'm not sure of this so I'll copy this to Barbara Pearson, my cousin to see if she can clarify. The Oliver Workman you found on the 1880 Greenbrier Co., WV Census is my GGrandfather. He was born abt 1862 VA (now WV). His daughter Mary Alice b. 3/14/1882 was my grandmother. She marred George Floyd Stinson in Riffe in 1905. She died in Riffe in 11/1924 from complications of childbirth after giving birth to her 9th child. She was buried, along with many other members of the Stinson, Workman, and Thompson families in the Riffe Cemetery (We think it was originally called the Stinson Cemetery, as James Stinson is reported to have donated the land for the Cemetery) and later moved to Doss Cemetery when the Riffe Lake was formed. 3. Looking for any information of the Stinson, Workman, Thompson families of eastern Lewis County. The Stinsons and Workmans came to Lewis County in 1893 with the large contingent of people from VA and WVA. Most of them settled in the Riffe, Ajlune and Swofford Valley areas. I would really like to see a listing of those over 60 folks who migrated to Lewis County in 1893. Also our family tradition says that the Riffe Cemetery was originally called the Stinson Cemetery, as James Stinson donated the land for the Cemetery. Any idea if this tradition is correct?
