"EVAN WILLIAMS, BARNEY STREET "At 100 Barney street, this city, at 2:30 p.m. yesterday, occurred the death of Evan Williams. Two weeks ago he became afflicted with the grip, which developed into brain fever. Funeral to-morrow at 2 p.m. from his residence. He was born at Pont-y-pridd, South Wales, and was 59 years of age. He was the son of Martin and Elizabeth Williams. He came to this country in the year 1865. He lived a while at Scranton, then settled at Upper Lehigh, moved to Plymouth and finally move to his own house on Barney street. He was one of a numerous family. His surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Ellen Nichols, Nanticoke; Edmund, Martin and Gomer. He was father of ten children: Edmund, Jane, Sarah Ann, Thomas, Evan, George, Mamie, William, Bertie and Gomer. Mr. Williams had been for years a consistent member of the Baptist Church. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Red Men and Knight of Pythias."
