"HE WAS A GOOD OLD MAN "Yesterday morning James Thomas died at West Pittston at the residence of his son, J.W. Thomas, where he has made his home for the past three years. He was well known as one of the most zealous members of the Franklin street M.E. Church, where he was ordained deacon, and was a well known local preacher. He was 79 years of age, and was a native of Wales, having been born in Monmouthshire April 10, 1813. He emigrated to the United States in 1842 and settled in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, and removed from there to Wilkes-Barre in June, 1868, where he remained in business until age prevented him from continuing it. Since then he has been active in Christian work, and often visited this city on special occasions at the Franklin street M.E. Church. He leaves an aged widow, three daughters and a son. All the children are married. Tw0 of the daughters reside at Philadelphia. The others are: Mrs. B.S. Williams of this city and J.W. Thomas of West Pittston, from which place the funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Hollenbach Cemetery." Nancy Cook Pasadena, MD, USA
