    1. [WALES-GEN] Downsides and Upsides

    3. According to the powers that be my computer has in this past week frozen about seven or eight times, lost some data once, failed to load up at the start with the virus checker at least twice, sat solid and uncaring three times whilst in my desk-top progamme and behaved rather heniously on the internet by bouncing me out of it when I least expected it. BILL GATES YOU HAVE A LOT TO ANSWER FOR! If it was a horse, you would shoot it, you would have no choice. If it was a Chyrsler V8, you would turn it over to the wreckers IMMEDIATELY, and even it if was a new Toyota 4WD you would turn it upside down and put it out to pasture as fast as you could. Apart from all this, I love it/he/she, or whatever you may call it. Mainly because it/he/she connects me with the world wide genealogy sites and caring lists such as CLWYD, POWYS, SHROPSHIRE & WALES-GEN, and therefore brings me into touch with those loving and gentle folk on the other side of the world whose genealogy email reaches me faster than the speeding bullet, and whose help and thoughts lead me on to further genealogical exploration. So, no matter what the downsides might be with MICROSOFT and the other associated (or perhaps non associated) computer packages, I will still stand by my square-eyed computer and its sometimes crazy functionings, knowing that it is only human frailities that have made it that way, and that no one is really to blame, least of all ourselves, and that the world is still always a very gentle and caring place when it comes down to co-operation. So, here's to all you listers of the various sites. May you suffer graciously the little intimidations of your computers and cheerfully rejoice at the small gains you find on the internet lists, because without them your genealogy research would be so much poorer. In these troubled times let us give thanks for being able to belong to such wonderful and caring lists. I find no better. Bless you all Graham *******Lest We Forget: Remember the 11th of September*******
