Remember, Ken, the 1841 census from which you took the details, rounded ages of adults off in periods of five years, so this John would have been 33 by then, and would have been written down as 35. Over to you. A possibility. Can you see a chair maker's son becoming a shoemaker! Maybe. More money in making shoes, perhaps? You have to keep replacing them, whereas chairs tend to stick around from generation to generation. Anyway, when you look at the transcribings there are some very interesting things happening in High Ercall. I don't think it was a dull place to live in at all.
