"Elias Hughes, mention of whose serious illness was made, died at his home 415 Exeter street, on Monday night. Mr. Hughes up to within a few months ago was inside foreman of the Clear Spring colliery, but on account of ill health was forced to resign. He was 63 years old and was born in Bryn Mawr, South Wales, and before coming to Pittston resided in Scranton for several years. He was a member of the Red Men's Lodge in Hyde Park. He is survived by the following children, his wife having died several years ago: Thomas and Joseph Hughes of Scranton and Mrs. Thomas Protheroe of Dunmore. The funeral will take place next Thursday at 12 noon and the remains will be taken to Scranton where interment will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery." Nancy Cook Pasadena, MD, USA
