HI ALL. Huh they at Channel 5 think they can worm their way out of putting a stop on the Teletext. The letter i got back was all matter of fact......... Your Reference: DO/50628/AMS (Please quote this reference in all furthercorrespondence) Thank you for your recent e-mail. 5 TEXT ceased to exist on the 31st December. Unfortunately, as the service was operating at a loss, both Channel 5 and BSKYB decided to cancel the licence. The licence has been put up for tender by the ITC (Independent Television Commission) and it is expected that the new licence will be awarded by April 2002 at the latest. Rest assured our business plans for 2002 are looking very successful, nevertheless we appreciate your concern. Please note that the contact details for the Channel 5 Duty Office are as follows: Telephone: 0845 7 05 05 05 Text telephone for use by deaf people: 0845 7 41 37 87 E-mail: dutyoffice@channel5.co.uk Fax: 020 7550 5678 And the Channel 5 website can now be found at: www.channel5.co.uk Thank you for your interest in Channel 5. Yours sincerely DUTY OFFICER This letter was sent to all that have written,so far. But little old me has gone one better and been nosing around...as one does and got hold of the email site of the big high and mighties that sit at the big tables and feed there fat cat pockets. So the address to moan and gripe at is; The address shown on the sky screen production@bskyb.com I have also come across this phone number still for the duty office but a number he ommitted to tell me...its; Channel 5 Duty Officer TEL: 020-7550-5555 My idea at present is to, to bombard these three with complaints that Tree Tops Genealogy service has been removed from Channel 5 Text. We, the supporters of Tree Tops should therefore send in as many messages to Tree Tops in order to make each weeks selection varied so that the powers that be can see what they are missing out on. This might help them realise that Genelogy should be taken more seriously. I did find out that you can still get Treetops and We'll meet again via sky,not sure if this is via cable in the U.K. or just by dish....If any of you can get this then please contact me off list. To contact Treetops for your messages then email; tree.tops@virgin.net I would like suggestions of how to try and get this important link back on....I know that it cannot be obtained in Wales anymore, and thats not fair!!! Kaz.
