    1. [WALES-GEN] THOMAS WILLIAM DAVIES
    2. Ron Davies
    3. Hello all, Looking for information about my Great Great Grandfather, Thomas William Davies, born in Wales circa 1824 but could be as late as 1826 if some census returns are to be believed. I have absolutely nothing else about him 'til his recorded marriage in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada [then Upper Canada or Western Canada] in September, 1852 in a double ceremony with his new bride's brother and his new bride officiated over by a Wesleyan Methodist minister. I can find nobody in all families members found and contacted, who can shed further light upon his pre-marriage days. He and his bride resided in both Dresden and Camden Township, Kent County until 1882 when they moved to Assiniboia of the North West Territories [now Saskatchewan] to homestead. Their four surviving youngest children travelled with them, one just married the prior month. TW and his wife, the former Alice Blackburn, are buried in West Carlyle Cemetery, SK. Alice's family were United Empire Loyalists from Pennsylvania where they arrived in the 18th century from Loughgall, Kilmore, Armagh, Ireland. I have no idea whether or not TW had parents or siblings in Canada but I have a suspicion that he might have arrived as a British Redcoat head- quartered in the major British military barracks at Chatham, ON. Please note that this is pure speculation but many soldiers mustered out and were given land in the new Canada. By the way, TW is shown as `Davis' from Ireland in a couple of census returns and in the LDS records but he's found as a land holder and a tailor in Kent records, as DAVIES and he signed himself DAVIES in matters concerning his homestead papers. All his children are known by Davies. I'll be appreciative of any lead or clue. Thank you all Ron Davies Surrey, BC Canada
