"Edwin Wilkes, one of the oldest residents of Upper Lehigh, died on Friday morning. He lived there for the past twenty-seven years and died of pneumonia. Mr. Wilkes was born on April 11, 1841, in Llanelly, Breckonshire, South Wales. He came to America in 1866 and shortly after settled at Upper Lehigh. He was aged 54 years, 9 months and 13 days.
