I am searching for records of my ancestor Sylvester Deputy. He was allegedly born in Wales in 1681 and migrated to the American Colony with a "company" about 1700. This family were French Huguenots who fled their homeland and changed their name to Dupaty later spelling it Deputy. The original name could have been DuPuy. Can any one do a look-up on this surname or tell me of online records to check? This family has been a stumbling block for me; no early wills or records found in the USA to point me to a Wales connection. any help would be greatly appreciated and I would reciprocate in any way I might be able.
