Your computer maintains the qualities of the three viewers, so you don't have to do any swapping around - they all work in together. BUT, if you have to re-install the whole Viewer prodecure due to some corrupt files or a computer crash, I am sure you will have to follow the above formula - seems to be that way. I did not re-install viewer 3, thinking (quite erroneously, it seems) that viewer 4 would do the job, but no the lovely and fascinating word search facility was just not there, so I shall have to go and get the viewer 3 disk and reinstall it, then possibly re-install viewer 4 again. Viewer 4 doesn't seem to do anything much, except that I think it will allow you to get a parent search from the British Vital Record disks, and that would certainly be worth the while having it. I can only hope that all other listers are so fortunate. Cheerio Graham Melbourne, Australia P.S. Here's "As time goes by." You must remember this a kiss is still a kiss of that you can't deny the fundamental things apply as time goes by moonlight and love songs never out of date hearts full of passion jealousy and hate woman needs man and man must have his mate that no one can deny! Not sure if I got it completely right but isn't this the very bottom line of things that we sometimes miss when we are researching? Our ancestors were not mere figures in time, they were living people with all the goodness, faults and imperfections that we see today, and some of them, well... how they must have loved! I guess this is why I, and most other researchers, seek to flesh out the bones and try to find out more about them, even if it means delving into court records, etc. But, really, wills do reveal a lot. Alhough, I would never pass on in print anything that appears to be very naughty. Better to leave that where it is, in the past, though some chuckles arise from reading these things, e.g. one daughter given all the crockery and silver in a will, then in a codicil it is taken away (mother probably didn't like the boy she was going with at the time) and then in years to come, in another codicil it is all given back! Passions! Yes, plenty of them. It all helps to round out our ancestors character for us.

Hi Graham, I find the 3.0 Viewer wonderful, in fact I think its magic! I had heard about the 4.0 one but was told by the Distribution Centre that it was not yet available, that was about six weeks ago. I am surprised it is not as versatile as the 3.0, can you tell what it does extra to the 2.0? Also is it possible to have both the 3.0 and 4.0 installed and swap from one to the other. Hi all. This is being cross-posted. Some folks will receive duplicates. Remember back a month or so all the excitement about Viewer 3 and how it came with the Mormon Immigration Index for free (well you had to pay for the immigration index, naturally). Everyone finds it a very useful tool, in that the search facility allows you to put in any word or a combination of words, such as name, place, occupation. Marvellous. I've found it very useful. At the same time as ordering the Mormon Immigration Index I ordered the British Isles Vital Records and was delighted to find that they came with Viewer 4. Well, I was going to donate the MII to the local LDS library anyway (which I did), so included the Viewer 3, which I felt I no longer needed. Not so. After a computer crash I re-installed the LDS records but found Viewer 4 did not give me the search facility that was on Viewer 3. Now, I have to go back to the LDS library and "borrow" back my Viewer 3. Lesson learnt. bye A chastised Graham in Melbourne, Oz

There were two small notices in the Plymouth column. (The different spellings of the surname come directly from these articles.) She was a lady highly respected in the community, and the news of her death caused much sorrow. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon, from the residence of her son on Main Street." No long after arriving here he purchased a large farm at Spring Brook, but on account of his failing health he sold it a few years ago. Since then he has lived a retired life, after visiting his friends in Wilkes-Barre and other towns in Wyoming Valley. He leaves a widow and a family of children, all of who are well known business men. Among them are merchant Jonathan R. Jones, East Market street; Evan T. Jones, farmer, Spring Brook; Richard I. Jones, the well known contractor of Park avenue; Jonathan Jones, fire boss of the Pettebone shaft, Dorranceton; Mrs. Mary Ann Davis of Rhandirmwhyn, Wales; merchant Isaac Jones of Kingston; and Miss Sarah Jones, who resided at home with her parents. He was a companionable gentleman and was beloved by all who enjoyed his friendship. He was a member of the Spring Brook Presbyterian Church. The funeral will take place on Tuesday. The relatives and friends and relatives from this city will leave on the D. & H. train at 9:05 for Spring Brook. The services will be held at 2 p.m. at the residence. Rev. Resending! ----- Original Message ----- From: "List Owner" <list.owner@virgin.net> To: "Wales Gen List" <WALES-GEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2001 1:36 PM Subject: LIST ADMIN This is being cross-posted, so apologies if you receive several copies of this! We have just started to send out a regular, monthly Admin posting as there seems to be a sudden splurge of subscribers to ALL the lists that are run between us (Carol & Julie), with many new to the internet, so, here are some basic suggestions for the newer members & reminders for the regulars **** Remember we're all living is different parts of the world and what is obvious to you not obvious to other list members. Please be patient and polite to fellow list members. Treat others as you wish to be treated. **** It is useful to indicate the State, County, Country of your research Eg: Alberta Canada, Wagga Wagga NSW Australia, Exeter Devon. If possible can the two letter abbreviations used in the USA be replaced with the full names. **** The more information you include in your question the more likely you are to get an answer and The more specific your question, the most likely you are to get answer. ****All messages posted to mailing lists are the property of their writers. Please obtain permission from all parties before forwarding or publishing any message from this list. **** "I've looked everywhere", it does helps to mention where "everywhere" is so others can point you to new places to look rather than telling you to do what you've already done. ***** Consider using the Free Family Tree and We'll Meet Again Service, provided FREE by Carol of Tree Tops http://freespace.virgin.net/tree.tops By submitting a message to the various services Carol provides, you might find that missing link. Check out the web page for further details. Remember, when you have an elusive ancestor, anything is worth a try. **** I'd like to encourage people to send replies to the LIST rather than direct to the person The advantages of sending replies to the list: there's probably others that are interested in the answer, it might get a discussion and it lets others know if the question has been answered. **** Please remember the correct procedure for unsubscribing and subscribing. Send a blank email with the word subscribe or unsubscribe in the body of the message. The address to send to is the address with the word request in it. EG treetops-news-L-request@rootsweb.com etc Please post from the address that you are subscribed under, otherwise the Rootsweb robot thinks it is spam & the posting bounces to us for forwarding. ***If you respond to an forwarded email please, please make sure that you reply to the correct address, and do not click reply to sender, otherwise Carol or I are swamped with the replies! **** Use suitable subject headings, especially if you receive the digest version of postings. Not everyone reads everything and often time dictates we skim read the subjects lines looking for something interesting or relevant. An email that says "My family research" doesn't tell us much. Another tip is to type SURNAMES in capitals, so they attract attention ****Remember ALL posts to Rootsweb mailing lists are archived, so it is always checking there. Following the links from the main Rootsweb URL, at www.rootsweb.com or from http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and then inserting the name of the list whose archives you wish to search. **** FINALLY, remember the correct List etiquette is to ask permission of the List Owner before posting messages regarding a new Mailing List you have set up or mentioning any commercial organization. Please send details to the admin address or either of us directly. ************************************************************************* To join the following MAILING LISTS just add on -L-request@rootsweb.com to the end of the Required name. Hello Brian and other listers, I am taking a stab at this I realize with the thousands of EVANS in Wales... I am looking for someone who knows any info of my EVANS ancestors. Particularly: Evan Thomas EVANS b1851 Llandrino, Montgomery, Wales. He came to the US before 1878, as he was married to Elizabeth STEWART in that year in Iowa, USA he was the son of James EVANS b 1823 Llandrino, Montgomery, Wales and _____? Evan's stepmother and his father had the following children: (They were all accounted for in the 1881 census of Llandrino) Lucy EVANS 1863 Edward EVANS 1868 both born in Llandrino Evan Thomas EVANS' son was James Thomas EVANS b1880 in Iowa, USA (my Great Grandfather) So many EVANSES...and so many Thomases, Jameses, and Evan Evanses...:( THANK YOU! Crossing my fingers, Jennifer:)
It seems Brian has stirred a few into action! My interest is EDMUNDS. My g.grandparents were in Tasmania and I have been able to find no trace of them on passenger lists or of their marriage. But their death certificates both show Wales as place of birth. William Edmunds - born Wales (nothing more specific) 1846. Died Launceston Tasmania 1901. WIlliam was a miner at Beaconsfield, Tas. Margaret (nee Thomas) is stated as born in Glamorgan in 1850. She died in Beaconsfield in 1901. Always hopeful! Judith Melbourne
Hi everyone, These are my main areas of research, all of them spending their lives in the counties that now make up Powys. Please note, not a Jones to be seen!! POWELL (different line) Abbeycwmhir, Nantmel, Rad. PREES Llanafan Fawr, Brec. PRICE Lanwrthwl, Brec. Rhayader, Rad. They all lived on dwellings in rural areas of Mid Wales. Hi, Just adding my names - not quite sure where in Wales may of be in the north. John Joseph and Sarah Anne Johnson (nee Bristow) - children John Francis Johnson and Catherine Johnson. John Joseph died before 1916, Sarah, John Francis and Catherine left for New Zealand, shortly after his death. Thanks, Adele Hobart, Tasmania
Hannah Maria ROBERTS born Llanyblodwel SAL 1882 moved to Llanystumdwy as a child. She married Richard Emmanuel Pritchard from Abererch on Nov 14th. 1912. They had three sons that I am aware of, David, Thomas and William. They disappeared somewhere in Caernarvonshire but there could be a link to Criccieth as I remember visiting there as a child. Hannah Maria (pronounced Moriah) had a brother David who married Hannah BORMAN and another brother James ROBERTS b 1886 Llanymynech SAL (not found him either), and my Grandfather Walter Wynn Roberts. Can anybody please claim this family or alternatively tell me where my great Aunt Hannah Maria went to. Its a long wait for the 1901 census and I am getting very impatient!! Keith Roberts.
I tend to forget that I am subscribed to this list as it`s generally very quiet. So, shamed as I am by all you scribes emerging from the woodwork I will now endeavour to stick some names up. The search starts with Edward ROBERTS b 1763, Llanymynech married Elisabeth JONES b 1764 from Llanrhaedr ym Mochnant. (Her parents are Thomas and Catherine JONES) and some time after marriage they moved to Llanyblodwel where the action starts. Catherine b 1795, Anne b 1798, Edward b 1801, John b 1807. Edward ROBERTS is the gggrandfather 1801-1878 Llanyblodwel. He married Hannah LEWIS 1808-1892 from West Felton, (parents John and Mary LEWIS).They succesfully reared 11 out of 12 children: John 1834-1909 married Catherine OWEN 1856-1926 from LLangyniew (parents John and Jane OWEN nee JONES) farmed at Adeney Manor, Edgmond SAL, Edward 1834 tenant farmer/miller at Llwyntidman, Llanymynech in 1881, lost him after then. Mary Hannah 1837-1911 married William WHITFIELD and farmed at Abertanat Hall, Llanyblodwel. Thomas 1841-1919 married Hannah Maria Jones from Llanfechain(previous marriage WILLIAMS) He move with his family to Llanystumdwy in 1889. Catherine Elisabeth 1843-1927. Spinster schoolteacher at Llanymynech. Sarah Jane b 1845 married Richard WALL. Anne 1846-1936 spinster (stayed at home to look after her mam, bless her) William b 1848 went to London to seek his fortune. Was a drapers assistant in 1881! I don`t think he made the big time! James b 1851 married Anne OWEN 1850-1928 from Llangyniew (Catherine OWEN`s sister). Twins Maria and Martha b 1853. Maria married Robert EDWARDS, Martha remained a spinster. All the above were born Llansanfraidd ym Mechain, Mont. Thomas ROBERTS is the ggrandfather, and married to Hannah Maria. They move with their family to Llanystumdwy in 1889 but left Edward ROBERTS b 1874 and Thomas W. ROBERTS b 1868 behind in or around Llansanfraidd (they can`t be found in the 1891 census for the area so must have moved on) and I am desperately looking for them. Edward was born in Llanymynech and Thomas W. (His middle name could possibly be either Wynn or Walter) was born in Oswestry. Does anyone recognise any of my ancestors please? So sorry for the pathetic plea for recognition but I must find those long lost cousins befor the sands of time overtake them and me! Regards, Keith ROBERTS, Llangwstenin, Conwy.
