    2. FOURTH GENERATION John M. Duke (1791-1868) and Charity Waldrop (c1794-c1822) Reverend John M. Duke was born on March 31, 1791 in Lancaster County, South Carolina, the son of <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3956/jduke.htm">Jesse Duke</A> and his first wife. After moving to Georgia with his father after 1804, on February 10, 1814 in Jasper County John married Charity Waldrop, daughter of <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3956/jwaldrop.htm">James Waldrop and Mary Morrison</A>. Charity bore him at least 3 children before her death around 1822. John Duke remarried on June 22, 1824 to Mahaley Hudson, and moved to Troup County on the Georgia frontier in 1829. In 1833 he was one of three founding trustees of Concord Primitive Baptist Church there, and became its first preacher. In 1837 he relocated to Chambers County, Alabama, and lived most of the rest of his life there. John Duke's grave is located in Concord Primitive Baptist Church (which he also founded) in Randolph County, Alabama. His second wife Mahaley, who bore him several additional children, died there in 1878. Children of John M. Duke and Charity Waldrop Robert W. Duke</A>, born September 14, 1818; married <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3956/wwduke.htm">Mary Ann Hagler</A> on February 8, 1842 in Troup Co., Ga.; died May 13, 1912 in Heard Co., Ga.
