Hi, Thanks I will check out Googles. I found a couple of Home pages with a picture of Howard Waldrop. It looks as tho he might have Indian blood. The area he lived in did have the Cherokee and Choctaw Indians. I found the Dawes list yesterday listing all the Indians in the Mississippi area, and I found my grandmother Minnie L. Waldrop. Story goes she was part Indian and my daddy and uncle used to tease her when they were little and called her Minnie Ha Ha. She was so tiny, thick long black hair she would roll in a ball at the back of her neck and the darkest blackest eyes. My grandmother had four children , by Minnie was the half sister with the name Masters. I have just started my research with the Dawes list. I couldn't believe it when I found a Waldrop wrote "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" Howard Waldrop has written several books. He was born in Houston, Mississippi Chickasaw County. He was born in 1946 and lived in Starksville and attended school in Mississippi. He moved to Texas in 1950 and graduated from the University of Texas. In the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?", the man who was the boyfriend of Clooney's wife was named Waldrop. In one of Harold Waldrop's book one of his character was named Madison Yazoo Leake, Counties in Mississippi. I think it would be interested to find what line of Waldrops Harold Waldrop belongs to. I know I would love to enter him into my files. Does anyone out there related to or know about Howard Waldrop? Anyone up in Washington State know of Harold Waldrop? I'm in Georgia , and Georgia and Mississippi is so far away from Washington State, we could use a little help. Thanks for any help. Sandra Waldrop Doolittle scalaway1867@aol.com
