    3. >From Ruth I have never sent out a virus warning before, but today I am sending this one to everyone in my address book because I am SURE this is not a hoax. My university sent me the following message from their computer gurus this evening. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* A new virus known as W32.Sobig.A@mm has been sent to a number of campus e-mail accounts. The subject of an e-mail containing this virus will be one of the following: Re: Movies Re: Sample Re: Document Re: Here is that sample The message will also contain one of the following attachments: Movie_0074.mpeg.pif Document003.pif Untitled1.pif Sample.pif Additionally, the sender (from) address may be big@boss.com, however other source addresses may be possible. If you receive any of these messages, simply delete the message and DO NOT OPEN ANY OF THE ATTACHMENTS. This virus can infect all versions of Windows and results in the virus e-mailing itself to all addresses found in the files .html, .htm, .dbx and .wab. This virus was first reported to the Symantec Anti-virus Research Center late last night, but because updated virus definitions have not yet been released, even computers with Norton Anti-virus installed are at risk of infection. We have placed a rule on our mail server to hopefully prevent any further e-mail distribution of this virus and we will update to the newest virus definitions as soon as they are available from Symantec.
