Paula, Yes and Thank you for replying. My great grandpapa Joseph R. Waldrop was physician, minister, State Rep. of Washington County, Alabama, Born in 1826, died in 1870m ambushed and killed in 1870 Escatawpa, Alabama, Washington Count. He married Sarah Baxter and left two sons, James Harry Waldrop 1869-1924 and a son he never saw who was born after he was killed, Joseph R. Waldrop, Jr. born 1871 and died 1899. He might have had a relative his age, named Stephen. My aunt used to say someone named Stephen who was his age came to Escatawpa,Alabama on the Alabama - Mississippi State Line. She said they rode horses and were the best of friends. She said they both were so tall and big they when they rode their horses the ground trembled. Joseph Ryan Waldrop Born 1826 had a son , Stephen FranklinWaldrop. I received email from a couple of people a few years ago saying James D. Waldrop was JRW's relative. I checked this out and found nothing. I was just wondering if anyone in your line might have heard of JRW. Other oral storied was he was 6' 6" and ministers and twins ran in his family. He was a ret. merch. Justice of the Peace, and in the KKK. He beat up the Judge of Probate in 1868 while still wearing his white sheet and the Judge nailed him because of his height and deep voice. Stories goes you either loved him or hated him. No one would go up against him. This is why he was ambushed. Yet his reputaion of being a kind, genlte physician and a loved minister was around for his grandchildren to hear about him. He was fair but he was firm. Was wondering if JRW might have been in the James D. Waldrop line as a relative. Thru years of researeching my JRW has been connected and accepted being the Son of Rev. Green Berry Waldrop and Elizabeth, they lived in DeSoto , Mississippi. I am trying to fill in the Blanks. He lived in South Carolina, Louisana, Alabama, Mississippi Georgia and Texas. His obit was in the Mobile Register August 16, 1870. He was ambushed August 13, 1870. Thanks for any help. Sandra maiden name Waldrop Georgia
