    3. Jan, the name on his email address is Linda Waldrop. I found that Fannin Electric Co op is in East TX. I made a couple of phone calls there today but didn't find him so I sent a msg to one of the persons listed on Fannin Electric's website. So you were quicker than me in the search. 1. [WALDROP] Re: Eavenson Post
    2. Sandra W. Doolittle
    3. Hi Mary, Yes, Evensen Cemtery is linked to the Waldrops . Willis Eavenson was with Green Berry Waldrop in the early 1830s in Harris County,Georgia. They both settled in DeSoto County, Mississippi Green Berry Waldrop is buried in Eavensen Cemetery. The Benjamin , Green Berry and Joseph R. Waldrop are the line I am researching. Eavensen Cemetery is in DeSoto/Tate County It lists the a whole page of names, so anyone that might be looking in the DeSoto/Tate area just might find their family listed. My line of Waldrops are related to the Thorntons, Scotts and Walker and others on that page. I have found my Waldrops on other lists while looking for another member of my family. I researched for my JRW for 8 years and one day I set him aside to help a friend whose family was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, never thinking to look for JRW there, after a month of helping the friend.....there he(JRW's family) was , his family,(Ezekiel Waldrop Green Berry's brother)they were living in Tuscaloosa , which led to finding my JRW in DeSoto County, Mississippi. My scanner is new and I have to add something for it to work. So, I tried to reply it and also forward it but it didn't work. I send in information to the Waldrop list with other's names, in hopes someone will find their family listed. I will have to go back and check but there was a Waldrop that left Tuscaloosa Alabama, Tuscaloosa County to join the fighting in the Civil Warbv. His group from Alabama all came down with measels and could't leave. When they did leave they had to join a Company from Tenn. So if any one was looking for him in Alabama , he was fighting with Tenn. I will look his name up today and post it. He was a Waldrop. Sandra I was just sharing many names in that area that might help someone. Sandra Mary wrote: >Hi Sandra, >Saw your post, but I'm confused. 3. Bettye Heinrich, Thank you, I will keep this on file. Every little bit helps. Sometimes I go back and pull out a note that fits in, where ,at the time I received it..it didn't. My Joseph Ryan Waldrop.....might have been born in Jasper. JRW's brother Henry Low Waldrop was born in Harris County, Georgia.1832 Joseph Ryan Waldrop was born in Georgia, 1823. Green Berry traveled quite abit and once he went to Alabama and then back to Georgia....then back to Alabama on to DeSoto County, Mississippi. Heaven , only knows where my JRW traveled while running from the law. I don't know if I told you he was in a duel, stories go that it was a rightful duel, but duels were against the law and they were outlawed in the early 1850s. Rather than face the law he left DeSoto County and was on the run the rest of his life. First running from the law, second....getting married and having children and leaving them behind, moving on and even marring while still married to another. I am still researching for newspapers for the crime he committed in DeSoto County, Mississippi. I'm sorry, I didn't me to ramble. I went for so many years (around 7 or 8) not being able to find one thing about JRW..and in the last several months all his lines are showing up with matching information. I never thought I would ever have this much information on him, Not to mention his wives and children. Each line is coming up with their own stories about him and their lines. Right now he stands with 5 to 9 children. We are still working on the Physician J. R.Waldrop of Tippah County, Mississippi married to Emily Isabella Smith. 1860 census four children I found a Waldrop relative from Ezekiel Waldrop's line that had this J.R.Waldrop who was Ezekiel's nephew, listed in his line, running from the law. Thanks for your time. Anything you run across....I would be grateful to have. Let me know if I can be of help to you. Forgive me fro babbling on Sandra Bettye Heinrich wrote: >Hi while looking for some other data I found the following: > >1827 Land Lottery Registration List for Jasper Co GA >1 = white male over 18, every widow, family of 1 or 2 orphans, > male or unmarried female that was an idiot, lunatic, insane, blind, > or deaf and dumb and 10 to 18 yrs of age. > >in Barnett's District >Elizabeth Waldrop 1, delarious, given by her guardian >Jonhson Waldrop 1 > >Regards, Bettye > > > >--- >Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. >Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). >Version: 6.0.332 / Virus Database: 186 - Release Date: 3/6/02 > >---------------------------------------------------- >Sign Up for NetZero Platinum Today >Only $9.95 per month! >http://my.netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum&refcd=PT97 > > >==== WALDROP Mailing List ==== >To use Waldrop Message Board: > http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/wal/Waldrop >To Review Archived messages: > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/WALDROP-L > >

    3. Georgia Ann Elizabeth Waldrop , daughter of Joseph Ryan Waldrop and Nancy Heard was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, but was married in DeSoto County, Mississippi. Dose anyone in the Heard/Waldrop/Thornton/Scott and Walker know why Nancy and J. R.W. were in Tupelo? DeSoto County was where JRW's family lived. (Rev. Green Berry Waldrop). Dose anyone have any information where Nancy Heard and Joseph Ryan Waldrop was married? Is there anyone on the list who knows about Emily Isabella Smith, who was married to J. R. Waldrop in Tippah, Miss- issippi and Sarah Alexander who married Joseph R. Waldrop in, Caddo, Arkansas. We stand now with J.R.W. having ten children if not more. I am reaching out to anyone that may know of or related to Joseph Ryan Waldrop and his wives.(which includes my great grandmother, Sara Baxter Waldrop.) My great grandmother has now been bumped from third to fourth wife..and may not stay there to long. We have their marriage cert. This "Scalawag" either married or married them while he was married to another, was considered an impostor, and running from a duel, which was a rightful shooting, but since dueling was outlawed in the early 1850s, he left the County, rather than face the Law. Most of my information in DeSoto County, Missisippi was researsched by Robert Joyner. He sent me tons of information on the Waldrop/Heard/Scott/Thornton families. Robert Joyner found quite abit of information in the DeSoto/Tate County, Journal , entered by Jimmy Walker. Joseph Ryan Waldrop and Nancy Heard Georgia Ann Waldrop (Thornton) Jimmy Ann Thornton (Scott) Lula Scott (Walker) Jimmy Walker Joseph Ryan Waldrop was Jimmy Walker's great great grandpapa. This is the way I read it......and, as always I stand to be corrected , if you find me wrong. We Waldrop cousins are looking for any documents, letters and oral stories we can find to get closer to our Joseph Ryan Waldrop. Jimmy has information and pictures. I am grateful for the work that Jimmy Walker has done for the Waldrop family so we can get one step closer to J.R.W. 1.Faye, 2. Ann, 3. Carol 4. Norma, 5. Jimmy, 6. But I did find Samuel and Mary Waldrope in the 1850 Henderson Co., NC census with their son Anderson... the only child I knew that was brother of Joab Waldrop... I have a lot of information I've assumed to be correct, now I'm in the proving mode... And I'm at a dead end with my Hammonds' line.... Figure if I can find my Waldrops, will find my Hammonds. Becky

    3. Hi Sandra: I have seen all your messages and gotten some good additional information on some. I have just started a new genealogy program because Matel bought out Ultimate Family Tree and discontinued supporting it 18 months ago. I got by with it and really liked it but time was running out. I have belonged to the Arlington, VA Roots Users Group for 16 years. They and I started with Roots II, then 3 then 4 then 5 and so on. They were excellent programs but they sold out to Ultimate Family Tree, and they a few months later to Matel. Oh well.... Arlington Roots Users Group did some very high level testing for 6 months and the large membership voted to go with "The Master Genealogist", they even had to change their name and by-laws to do it. I was very skeptical, but read all their newsletters (they publish an excellent monthly newsletter that the $15.00 membership gets mailed to you or you can get it off their Web Site). I bit the bullet. It is an EXCELLENT, SUPURB program. It is new and the owner and main programmer has been doing genealogy since he was 8 years old. His Mother (the Vice President of the comany) is a Master Genealogist. The program is definately for the very serious genealogist, but can be used by a novice also. It does unbelievable thing that I never thought of and even has a built in county finder Lat Long finder, Redbook, The Source, Cite Your Sources, Evidence Evaluator and many other things. It has a bridge in addition to GEDCOM that will go to 14 different programs such as UFT and bridge all the data over immediately so you don't have to use GEDCOM and loose some data. It has a steep learning curve. I even read the manual several times for about 5 months and was plodding along, not overly happy. The Arlington RUG invited the owner programmer to speak at their meeting. He did so for two hours or more for 3 months. They taped it. Members could get the three tapes that are very professional presentations filmed by amateur photographers (very good presentation using a background active projector as he talks, for $20.00. I got the tapes and things really came together. I learn some new things every day and have amazed myself. Sorry I didn't mean to ramble on, but this is a GREAT program for the SERIOUS genealogist. I am extremely satisfied..... Glad I could be of some help. Like you I really enjoy helping, That is almost as much fun as finding a new line. I think from the looks of your posts you are ahead of me now. I have been in the hospital several times last year and already 4 times this year. I have really gotten behind, but am now able to play catch up and your posts have helped. Let me know when you need something. 3. Becky, I can help you with the Hammonds, Capps, and Waldrops but I will not have time until Monday. The name for our Samuel Newman Gary Waldrop came from the ministers of the Bush River Baptist Church in Newberry CO SC. Samuel Newman was a noted minister, Thomas Gary was his son in law and a later preacher at the church. Mary Capps Waldrop and Lucinda Capps Hammonds were sisters; thus the story as to why they did not want Joab and Hannah to marry since they were first cousins. My husband is a Hammonds descendant. Please email me so that we do not clutter up the WALDROP-L board. bettyejps@netzero.net Regards, Bettye --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 2. I just went to library here in the little town we've recently moved too... have all the indexes for SC up until 1850 and all NC census indexes... so maybe I'll have some luck with my Waldrops, they also were from NC via SC. I've copied the NC indexes and 1850 SC... so we'll see. My Waldrops are intermixed with the Hammonds, Capps (NC & SC) and Beckler (Germany) families. Becky

You from him and his first wife, Mary Capps, and I am from his 2nd wife, Anna Melita Griffitts. There is so much information available on Joab Waldrop who m. Hannah Elizabeth Hammonds.
