    3. Hi Mary, To tell you the truth, that scalawag was all over the place, wouldn't surprise me if he was in Illinois, too. Joseph Ryan Waldrop Born in Georgia 1823-1825 He married: Nancy Heard, Sarah Cathrine Alexander, Victoria K. Thomas (while still married to Sarah). Then in 1866 he met my great grandmother and in 1867 he married her in Washington County, Alabama. He was a Physician, Minister, KKK, State Rep. of Washington County. Justice of the Peace. Does anything ring a bell.....With his life style, he could be just anyone's grandpapa. Oh, yes he was running from a duel in Mississippi in the early to mid 1850s. It was called a rightful duel, but by then duels were outlawed in Mississippi. So, he didn't hang around. He was on the move . He mentions in a copy of a letter I have written by him, South Carolina, La, I have found him in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas, also Texas. Thanks for reply. 2. There have always been "family stories" to that effect. However, no documentation. The Belvins probably were of native American descent, or mix. But, I have yet to see any solid documentation for that. Quentin

    2. You are absolutely WONDERFUL! I was so thrilled to receive your information. Is it true Sarah MEEKS maiden name was BLEVIN? One last question, Is there any Indian ancestry in the MEEKS, BLEVINS, BLALOCKS, Line? You've been a great source of help to me...much Thanks !!!! Karen

    2. Didn't see any Karen, although Sarah Meek was in Parker Co., Texas, with her children, in 1860, along with others of her immediate Meek family, they had settled mainly in the Southwest portion of the county. Southwest of Weatherford, the county seat, on the Brazos River there is an area called Meeks Bend. There you will find a Mary Meeks Survey of 160ac. Sometime after 1860, and before 1870, Sarah Meek returned to Sebastian Co. Arkansas. Quentin

    3. Thanks for the tip Jan and it is a good idea to do that ,,,,, BUT ,,,, don't count on it stopping all email sent out by a virus. Some of them have their own SMTP server and do not use your email client at all and some of them can gather address' from your "Temporary Internet Files" folder, this is where Windows stores web pages you visit, HTML documents and other information it uses in going about its' business. Some virus' use the entire address book and some do not, some start at the top of the address book and some do not., some get address' from unopened email still in your Inbox. So, as you can see, every little bit helps but the best is not to get infected in the first place. 1. Re: [WALDROP] VIRUS Alert
    2. This may be of help: From the U.S. Dept.of Energy, CIAC website (Computer Incident Advisory Cabability), www.ciac.org/ciac Here is a very helpful tip concerning worm viruses you could get in an email: As you may know, if a worm virus gets into your computer, it heads straight for your email address book and sends itself to everyone in there, thus infecting all your friends and associates. This tip won't keep the virus from getting into your computer, but it will stop it from using your address book to spread itself further, and it will alert you to the fact that a worm virus has gotten into your system. Here's what you do: 1. Open your address book and add a "New Contact" just as you would do if you were adding someone to your list of email addresses; 2. In the window where you would type your contact's first name, type !000 (that's an exclamation mark followed by 3 zeros); 3. In the box where you would enter the email address, type WormAlert; 4. Click Add; 5. Then, click OK. Now, here's what you've done and why it works: The name !000 will appear at the top of your email list as entry number: A. This is the first email address a worm virus will find when it tries to send all of your friends a virus infected email. But because the 1st email address is invalid, it will be undeliverable, and the worm virus stops any further attempts to access your address book. B. The second advantage of this tip is that you will be notified when an email cannot be delivered because of an invalid email address. You will receive an email telling you that your email to "WormAlert" could not be delivered. If you get this message, you'll know right away that you've got a worm virus in your system. You can then take the appropriate steps to get rid of it. Just knowing that you even have a virus is half the battle.

It is now posing as a program for you to install (attached) and it will make your computer immune to this virus The SUBJECT: line will say ,,,, Worm Klez.E immunity DO NOT FALL FOR THIS ,,,,,,, you will be installing the virus itself. 3. I just returned from a trip home to Texas. While there, I was, of course, doing family research. I was not specifically looking for Waldrop info on this trip, but ran across the following miscellaneous records that might help someone: Although I seem to have skipped some of the information on this book, you should be able to find it if you need it. I hope. From the 1830 Citizens of Texas book, Austin's Register of Families, p. 47, under "Character Certificates and Certificates of Reception," Spanish Archives, General Land Office: San Augustine, August 18, 1835. James Bowlin - native of Tennessee, family of wife and one child, emigrated in 1826. San Augustine, August 18, 1835. Jeremiah Bowlin - Native of Virginia, wife and 2 children, emigrated in 1826. San Augustine, August 31, 1835. Mary Ann Bowlin - Native of Tennessee, emigrated April 1826, had family of two in number. Jeremiah Bowlin was the father of the Mary "Polly" Bowlin, married to Claiborne Parrish Waldrop. This is most probably this Jeremiah. I am not sure if this Mary Ann Bowlin is CP's wife. I have her variously listed as Mary W., and Mary Ann, and have her born in Kentucky in one reference. Help anyone? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Additionally, there was a probate case listed in "The State-wide Records Indexing and Inventory Program" publications: Index to Probate Cases of Texas, No. 210, Shelby County, November, 1881-August 11, 1939. This program was a WPA effort, published in April 1942. The Name of Deceased, Minor or Lunatic Filed Case No. Waldrop, Benjamin P.,D. Jr., Josephine B. and R.L., minors Nov. 18, 1889 07 I did not look up the actual record from the index. terri
