    1. [WALDROP] Benjamin and Ezekiel Waldrop
    2. I an not sure if I sent this email to the Waldrop List. I apologize , if I have sent it twice. Later on I am sending another email to ask acouple of question to the Waldrops about this page. Is there any disagreement on the Benjamin Waldrop line? If so, where is the disagreement? Below Benjamin and Asley Waldrop who were with Green Berry (born 1791) in Gwenette County, Georgia in 1824 along with Bodie. May I ask is my line is correct from Benjamin and Asley Waldrop , Green Berry Waldrop (born 1791) Joseph Ryan Waldrop (born 1826 in Alabama or Mississippi, Mississippi was listed on census 1870) Green Berry was in Alabama in 1823 listed purchasing land in Alabama and then he went back to Georgia where he was a Minister and purchased quite abit of land in Harris, Muscogee and Talbot County from the early 1830s to early 1840 then he moved on to Ponotoc , Mississippi then over to DeSoto, County until he died in 1854. Joseph Ryan Waldrop is listed in his will along with Henry Low, McDonald, Nancy Caroline Waldrop Higginbottom,Joseph Ryan Waldrop first wife Nancy and their Children Georgia Ann Waldrop Thornton and Stephen Franklin. Rev. Green Berry(born 1791, died 1854) traveled back and for according to Land Deeds from the Carolinas to thru Gwenette, Georgia, then Alabama back to Georgia, back to Alabama then settled in DeSoto, Mississippi where he died. Families.....Heard, Thornton,Higginbottom, Scott, Thomas, Walkers and Baxters. My Baxters...Sarah Baxter Waldrop. Dr. Joseph Ryan Waldrop was ambushed shot and killed (August 13, 1870) by a shot gun twelve yards away in Escatawpa, Alabama, Washington County. The killer or killers were never found , it was ruled as radical murder. This is where my Joseph Ryan Waldrop. Information from the Mobile Register Newspaper dated August 16, 1870. He was call the Hon. Joseph Waldrop and Dr. Waldrop and has just finished a term as State Rep. of Washington County, Alabama. I have not connected my Joseph R. Waldrop with the Civil War Joseph R. Waldrop ,even tho this JRW lived in North Mississipi where my JRW lived. Nor have I connected my JRW with the 1860 Tippah County , Mississippi Dr. J. R. Waldrop, Physician. My line is connected by oral family stories where my Joseph Ryan Waldrop lived, had another family in North Mississippi. The family stories mention a first marriage, father was a minister, family member thought of as a son by first wife name Stephen who came to visit him in Alabama 1867-1870. Stories mention Pontotoc, Canna, West Point and quite a bit of talk of DeSoto, Mississippi. My aunt Louise Waldrop Jorgensen 1905- 2000 said her grandpapa Joe, went to school in West Point , Mississippi. I don't remember all the stories I heard as a child, but I do remember the names of the towns , I do remember West Point, DeSoto, Pontotoc, where there is a plaque with Rev. Green Berry's name on a highway with other ministers. My connection with my Joseph Ryan Waldrop is from 1866 on down. I have gathered information from Faye Waldrop Johnston, (Ezekial) Green Berry Waldrop's wills and other information along with Marshall Waldrup(Major Washington Waldrop) I was contacted a Waldrop family member who was related to the 1860 Tippah County, Mississippi , Physician with wife and four children J. R. Waldrop, Physician. He said he had heard this was the same JRW as mine the State Rep. of Washington County, Ala. But, I lost contact with him, before we could confirm the connection. Does everyone agree on this line have posted below? At the bottom under my personal comments. My Joseph Ryan Waldrop's father is Green Berry Waldrop, Georgia, early 1830s to 1840. Rev. Green Berry Waldrop was in Alabama in 1824 where my Joseph Ryan Waldrop might have been born there or in Mississippi in 1826, he Married Nancy Heard and his daughter was born in Tubelo, Mississippi in 1845 and a son Stephen Franklin. Benjamin Waldrop's parents were Ezekila Waldrop, born 1784, in Granville County, North Carolina Wife Martha Johnston. Benjamin Waldrop married Alsey, born about 1784. 1. [WALDROP] HAYDE WALDROP/WILLIAM WALDROP
    2. HAYDE WALDROP/WILLIAM WALDROP I would like to say "Thank you," to all. I think it is amazing that so many people are willing to take their time to help one another in searching for relatives. This is particularly dear to me, as it is not only a link to my past. I have just recently found out that I was born "baby girl Waldrop." My mother's maiden name is Waldrop. We have only corresponded once. I have been talking with an Aunt and Uncle who wanted tried raise me, as well as with other family members but my mother refused and put me up for adoption. According to my Aunt & Uncle, the Waldrop's were kind of "lost" people many, many years ago. I guess that means "poor" or due to the early death of my great grandparents, not much in known about the family. My grandfather, Lester Melton Waldrop - 3/25/1915 - 10/20/1974 was orphaned at six years of age and raised by his maternal grandparents. ( see The Stephenson's)He was born in Knox County, TN and died in Hamilton County.(aka/Chattannooga) He is buried in Ricetown or Riceville, TN, Spring Creek Cemetery? He and his wife, Edith Kate Dinsmore, 4/13/1916 -- 11/09/1982 ; have seven children, all living throughout the country. ( I have info on Edith's father's side, the Wilhoit's, men are all accounted for and date back to the 1500s. They immigrated to America in 1718 from Germany. ( From Strunk and Chambers Web site) His father, Hayde Waldrop, died in 1918, (not confirmed) when Lester (Lech) was two years old. I'm not sure of spelling or if "Hayde" is a nickname. Lester's grandfather was William (Billy)Waldrop from the eastern Tenn.or North Carolina area. (NC was part of Tenn. in the early years) I am told his wife was a Cherokee Indian. His mother was Imogene Stephenson Waldrop Wade 9/24/1897 -- 3/24/1921. She remarried and had another child, with the last name of Wade. Nothing else is known of the 1/2 brother. Imogene's parents, William Stephenson, (died 1935) and Sarah Davis 1/05/1869 -- 3/14/1948 raised Lester after his mother's death. I received a copy of the handwritten 1940s request for social security application put in by my grandfather, Lester. However, is was inconclusive to the information I received. Some of the handwriting was different, probably from a women who helped him fill out the required info. Discrepancies were: Waldrop was written as Walbrop, but signed as Wadldrop. Hayde was spelled Hade. Imogene Stephenson was spelled Imogine Stevens. If you have any suggestions I would appreciated your knowledge on how to proceed. Best Wishes, Sheri

    2. Joanne, My William M. Waldrop/Waldrep was born Feb. 12, 1816. I don't have a clue where he was born. One census says TN, another says N.C. and another says GA. He married Sarah Ann Watson in 1840, but I don't know where. Sarah Ann was b. in AL so they probably married in AL. They had 9 children of which William Samuel was the youngest, born Feb. 12, 1869 in AL. According to William S.'s family bible, William M.'s father was George Waldroup who married Rhoda Brooks. William M. & Sarah Ann Watson Waldrep's children are: 1) Rhoda Brown Waldrep, b. July 5, 1842 and d. July 20, 1856 2) Samantha Elizabeth Waldrep, b. Jan 23, 1844 and d. Mar 15, 1900 in Hopkins County, TX Samantha married 1) John Allen 2) Williamson M. Wright 3) Mary Ann Waldrep, b. Dec 28, 1846 and d. July 9, 1856 4) Sarah Frances Waldrep, b. Jan 25, 1848 and d. Mar. 26, 1848 5) Nancy Tolithy Waldrep, b. June 10, 1849 and d.Sep. 20, 1893 In Hopkins County, TX Nancy married Charles Jackson Wright 6) James Thadaus Waldrep, b.
