Andrew Green and family moved to Thorp from North Dakota around 1886. Andrew was part of a large family of lumber barons in central Michigan and a short bio. states that he was in the lumber business in Thorp....I suspect as a laborer rather than operator at this point. Is anyone aware of what logging companies were operating in the area around this time? Andrew's sister in law was also in the area and applied for her husband's Civil War pension while living in Ellensburg in 1890. We can't find any evidence that Algernon Green ever actually lived here himself, but his widow appeared to have remarried and signed the application as Mary C. Beede along with a grandson, George Green. Do any of these names ring any bells? Sue Perrault Sumner, WA
