    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RBestrom7380 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.king/7442.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I did some research, however, there is no proof the information on a potential wife or son is the correct person. There just does not seem to be much information on this person. Your first source would be the National Cemetery. The Social Security Death Index: Frederick Huff, born 3 Jan 1906, died Feb 1971 (no day identified), "Last Residence:" Seattle, King Co. ---The "last residence" on the SSDI is NOT necessarily where a person actually lived or died. The Social Security Administration calls it simply the "home of record," and possibly the address where correspondence by the SSA was sent. It is not necessarily where any benefit was paid to the person, survivor, or the lumpsum death benefit (in years past, it was paid to anyone paying burial expenses, family member, funeral home, city/county, attorney; today, a living spouse). It is sometimes the location where the notification of death was sent to the SSA, sometimes where the lump sum death benefit was sent. ---The "last benefits" notation that appeared later on the SSDI was NOT necessarily concerning a benefit sent to that person. It was also identified for the location where the final Death Payment was sent. In the past, that might have been sent to a spouse, or ANYONE that had paid the burial costs. In recent years, the law was changed to just be a spouse. Persons are listed on the SSDI that had NEVER received a payment; but a surviving spouse had received the death payment, OR Survivor payments. AND, surviving children under 18 are also recipients of monthly payments as a survivor. The "last benefit" for a deceased might not appear because a survivor (spouse or child) are STILL receiving them. The SSA does NOT go back to add, change, or correct information. The Washington Birth Index: Frederick Charles Huff, born 2 Jan 1904 to Louis Charles Huff and Beulah Clara Merwin, born in Yakima County. The 1910 Census shows his birth about 1906. The WA Courts database system did not identify any cases in his name (Probate, etc). Washington Marriage records: Frederick C. Huff to Renee C. Banchero on 1 Feb 1930 in King County. Witnesses were Danny and Ada Cann. http://media.digitalarchives.wa.gov/WA.Media/jpeg/CE3CC8CE5DBA2BB3F3092A38BCD8C865_1.jpg The 1930 Seattle City Directory shows Rena C. Banchero, also living at the 4223 36th address is her brother Edward (from the 1920 US Census). The 1931 Seattle City Directory shows Renee C. Banchero, clerk at the John W. Graham, residence 673 Homer. The 1933 Directory shows Renee Banchero, usher Coliseum Theatre, residence 726 Pine. In 1934, she was living at 1326 7th Ave. --An online family tree shows a "Rena" Banchero, born 27 June 1907 in Black Diamond, King Co, WA, died 8 Feb 1986 in Seattle. She was buried in the Black Diamond Cemetery. Husband's name "Private." Burial: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=banchero&GSfn=rena&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=50&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=11290055&df=all& The King County Recorders Office identified a 1976 Warranty Deed (residence purchase), recorded on Feb 2, 1976. The Loan was satisfied on April 20, 1988. The names are Fred C. Huff and Shirley J. However, the original deed was recorded after the death of the person being researched. This "could" be a son? That would give the reason for the "last residence" being in Seattle. The document was not scanned. It does show the property in the Des Moines View Estates. --US Public Records show a Fred C. Huff, born 1 Feb 1932 residing at: 23321 17th Place S, Des Moines, WA (No date of residency). This person "could" be a son of the above Fred C. Huff and wife Rena/Renee; BUT, no proof the above is the correct person. --In 1996, the above was living at 702 Broken Dollar Ct, Odessa, MO 64076. Also recorded as living there, Shirley J. Huff, born 1935. --- www.zabasearch.com has a listing for both a Fred C and Shirley M in Chesterfield, MO. A Shirley J is shown in the same area. ---If you suspect this "might" be a son of Fred Charles Huff, write or call them. Pipl.com identified Frederick Charles Huff, born 1906 from Happy Valley, Oregon, Clackamas County, buried Willamette Nat'l Cemetery.
