Born August 16, 1915, Betty died March 23, 2004, in Seattle at age 88 after years of failing health. Raised in West Seattle, Betty graduated from high school at Holy Names Academy in 1935 and from Forest Ridge College (Seattle) in 1937. In 1942 she married Jimmy Linden, the love of her life. They were blessed with 30 years together before Jimmy died in 1972. She stayed on in her beloved home in the Wedgwood neighborhood and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish for over 60 years. Betty worked for many years in the Registrar's Office at the University of Washington and in retirement enjoyed reading, playing cards, and day trips to Longacres with her neighbors. Betty will always be remembered for her radiant smile, deep faith, and unconditional love. First and foremost in life was her family. She devoted herself to the loving and nurturing of her children and grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride. She is survived by her children Jim (Lorraine) Linden, Kathleen Adams, Christine Conley, Mary (Bob) Sepulveda; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her sisters Margaret Mary Davies and Patricia Hertrich and two nephews and one niece also survive her. The family appreciates those who cared for Betty these past few months but is most grateful to Monica who supported Mary and her family as caregivers. Remembrances in Betty's name may be sent to Our Lady of the Lake Scholarship Fund, 3520 Northeast 89th Street, Seattle, Washington 98115. A Memorial Celebration will be held Tuesday, March 30, at 11AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 3520 Northeast 89th Street, Seattle. Her life was love; her love was God's.
