Lake James W. Lake. Died on April 6, 2004 from pulmonary fibrosis. Jim was born January 13,1921 in Gaylord, Michigan, where he learned to love the outdoors. He served in the Air Force during World War II and then he completed his degree in Chemical Engineering at Michigan State and later his Master's in Science in Aerospace Management. Jim began his life work at Michigan Mutual Insurance Company as an Industrial Hygienist, then worked for the Atomic Energy Commission at the Nevada test site. He served as the Regional Administrator for OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration] in Seattle from 1972 until his retirement in 1996. During retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou and his five children, eight grandchildren and dog Chip. A memorial service will be held April 10, 2004 at the Mercer Island United Methodist Church located on 7070 Southeast 24th, Mercer Island, Washington at 2PM.
