Staley, 51, President of the Transport Equipment Co., died early today in a hospital. He had been ill since September. Mr. Staley had been in trailer manufacturing and related industries since 1935. He founded the firm, formerly the Transport & Trailer Equipment Co. in 1948. Two other executives of the equipment company, Coburn B. Crosby, Vice President and General Manager and Karl P. Heideman, Secretary Treasurer and their wives were killed in the crash of an air liner March 5 on Mount Fuji, Japan. Born in Seattle, Mr. Staley attended the Lakeside School and Broadway High School and was graduated from Garfield High School. He resided at 5621 Kent Des Moines Road, Kent. Mr. Staley was a member of the Seattle and Queen City Yacht Clubs, the Rainier Golf and Country Club, the Washington Athletic Club, the Swedish Club, the Washington Motor Transport Association, the Western Highway Institute, the Mountain Pacific Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, the Kirkland Elks Lodge and the Lakeside Alumni Association. Survivors are his wife, Carmine; four sons, Philip B. and Christopher A., both of Bellevue; Earl W., Seattle and Paul R. Staley, Ellensburg; his mother, Mrs. Hannah M. Staley and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn M. Arfster, both of Portland and two brothers, Warren H., Honolulu and Allen B. Staley, Portland. The Seattle Times Tuesday, July 5, 1966 State's Traffic Death Toll is 20 ..Another King County resident, Christopher A. Staley, 26, of Houghton, was killed last night when his motorcycle was struck by an automobile on the beach at Ocean City, Grays Harbor County. State troopers said Staley's motorcycle was stuck by a car driven by James D. Chamberlain, Ocean City, as Chamberlain was making a U-turn. The Seattle Times Wednesday, July 6, 1966 Christopher A. Staley Funeral Funeral services for Christopher A. Staley, 26, of 10240 Southeast 13th Street, Bellevue, will be at 11 o'clock tomorrow in the Bonney Watson Broadway Chapel. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn. He died Monday when his motorcycle was struck by an automobile on the beach at Ocean City, Grays Harbor County. Born in Seattle, Mr. Staley lived here all his life. He was graduated from Bellevue High School. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1961. He was an earth mover driver at the Mossyrock Dam. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Robin H. Slate and three brothers, Phillip, Paul and Earl Staley, all of Bellevue and two grandparents, Mrs. Annie Hanna Staley, Portland and Harry McQuillin, Arcadia, California.
