Douglas, 69, in the New Pacific Apartments, 110 Vine Street. Douglas, the manager of the apartments, was shot in the heart at the doorway of his second floor residence about 2:40AM. Police said. A man, 46, was arrested on suspicion of homicide. After officers called to the building were forced to kick in the door, the police dog, Odin, chased the suspect and seized his arm. The suspect had climbed a fire escape to the second floor of the building, where he broke into an apartment, then went into the hallway and fired several shots, detectives reported. Police said Field, evicted the previous day for making too much noise, broke into the building, fired a pistol in a hallway, then shot Douglas in the chest when the manager opened his door. The term was set in Olympia by the State Board of Prison Terms and Paroles. Five years are mandatory. Field, 46, shot Earl Douglas, 69, manager of apartments at 110 Vine.
