You will miss out on some good information that way. The State Archives does not have Washington Death Certificates; only the State Health Dept. and the County where the death occurred has them and the public is not allowed access. Death certificates are available with a form on the State Health Dept. web site, which can be mailed in for $17.00 (price increase July 26, 2003) or can be ordered on-line with a credit card. With credit card it only takes a few days, but by mail it usually takes several weeks. But the LDS Church microfilmed Wash. Death Certificates from 1907 - 1960 and you can request the appropriate film through your local LDS Family History Center.
