The first is a photograph of Y. C. BLALOCK which was taken at the McKinney Studio in Walla Walla, Washington. The photograph was likely taken in the early 1900's with Mr. BLALOCK appearing to be in his 40's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as Phoebe BLALOCK. This second photograph was not taken in a studio; however, she appears to be about 4 years old at the time it was taken, likely in the 1890's or early 1900's. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a BLALOCK Family Researcher I believe that these are photographs of Yancey Crawford BLALOCK M. D. and his daughter Phoebe Irene BLALOCK. Yancey was b. 3 Aug 1859 in Spruce Pine, NC, the son of Dr. Nelson Gales BLALOCK (son of Jesse BLALOCK and Ura LIPPS). Yancey married 3 times, (1) Julia SANDERSON died giving birth to their son Jesse Nelson BLALOCK (2) Stella Agnes MARNIER died childless (3) Lillian BALLOU gave birth to Phoebe Irene on 5 April 1894 in Walla Walla, WA. Yancey died in Walla Walla, WA in 1921. Phoebe BLALOCK earned a Masters Degree in Marine Biology and taught for years in the Seattle Public Schools. Phoebe died 7 Jan 1996 in San Juan County, WA having lived on both Lopez Island and in Port Stanley. Both 1900 and 1910 census information for the family is as follows: 1900 census of Walla Walla: Y. C. BLALOCK, age 40, born Aug 1859, married 9 years, born NC, parents born NC, a Physician L. B. BLALOCK, wife, age 39, born Aug 1860, married 9 years, 1 child/1 living, born IL, parents born OH/NY Jesse BLALOCK, son, age 15, born June 1885, born WA, parents born NC/IL, at School Phoebe BLALOCK, dau, age 6, born Apr 1894, born WA, parents born NC/IL, at School 1910 census of Walla Walla: Yancy C. BLALOCK, age 50, married 19 years, born NC, parents born NC, a Physician Lillian B. BLALOCK, wife, age 49, married 19 years, 1 child, born IL, parents born OH/NY, a Housewife Phoebe I. BLALOCK, dau, age 16, born WA I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care.
