Here is his obituary: Brad Graham Killed in Vietnam Specialist/5 Bradford M. Graham, 21, who expected to be home on Mercer island for Christmas, was Friday killed in an accident in Vietnam. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Graham, said their son has applied for a six-month extension which would have returned him to duty in January. He had been in the Army a little over a year. Brad, a 1969 Mercer Island High School graduate, was doing what he wanted to do, his parents said. As a medical corpsman he found in his duties the making of a career as a paramedic. He hoped to go to college later, and to become part of Mercer Island's projected "Medic One". He had been a volunteer fireman here. Last month Brad received the bronze Star for valor under heavy enemy fire. The citation tells that "even though the night defensive position was still under heavy enemy fire, and as such Specialist Graham was exposing himself to a great amount of flying shrapnel, he began to treat the wounded (ARVN). "Working with determination and aggressiveness, Specialist Graham aided greatly in treating the wounded and in their medical evacuation. Although he was repeatedly exposed to hostile fire, Specialist Graham fearlessly continued his mission with complete disregard for his own personal safety, and as a result many lives were saved. "His personal bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army." In addition to his parents, Brad Graham is survived by two sisters; Kathy, 19, and Lisa, 5. He was born in California, and the family has lived on Mercer Island since 1963 (MIReporter, Mercer Island WA, 25 Nov 1971) Respectfully Darilee
