Carpenter died two hours later at the city hospital. According to the story related to the police by Mrs. Carpenter, the quarrel started when Carpenter retired at an early hour and objected to his wife sitting up and reading. In the struggle that ensued the woman was choked until she was unconscious and Carpenter left the house. Going into the backyard he shot himself. Neighbors attracted by the shooting notified the police and Motorcycle Policeman R.S. Webb and Chad Ballard investigated and sent the wounded man to the city hospital. He died without regaining consciousness. Mrs. Carpenter was not seriously hurt. The couple had been married ten years and have two children. The missing man was identified as Tracy Anderson, 22, of Seattle. Alaska State Patrol divers yesterday found the body of his companion, Larry C. Rebo, 26, of Tenakee Springs, Alaska, on board the flat bottomed Spirit. The Spirit was found Saturday by a pilot, its mast sticking out of about 30 feet of water 100 yards off Pleasant Island. ========== The Seattle Times Wednesday, December 7, 1983 Page C2, Column 1 Northwest Today Search for Seattle man called off Juneau Emergency crews have called off the search for a Seattle man missing from the crab boat Spirit, which sank in a shallow channel near Gustavus, in Southeast Alaska. State Trooper diver teams and Coast Guard personnel on Monday recovered the body of Larry Rebo, 26, of Tenakee, Alaska, about 100 yards from the sunken boat, officials said. But they found no sign of Tracy Anderson, 22, of Seattle and suspended the search last night, a Coast Guard spokesman said. The two men were believed to have been aboard the vessel when it went down in about 30 feet of water. Victor Burton, 37 years old, of 7741 Avenue Northwest, was injured fatally when his automobile struck the rear of a tank truck and trailer at Rainer Avenue and Dearborn Street at 8 o'clock last night. He died 45 minutes later at Harborview County Hospital. The death raised the toll of traffic deaths in 1949 to 82 in King County, 41 of which were inside Seattle. On this date last year there had been 99 deaths in King County, 47 inside the city. Patrolmen D.F. Mulivrana and A.D. Barker said Burton's machine, traveling at high speed, hit the rear of the truck driven by Chester Worgrum, 34, Ellensburg, which was stopped at a red light. Burton's car was demolished. ========== The Seattle Times Monday, May 14, 1949 Page 13, Column 5 Victor S. Burton Funeral Funeral services for Victor S. Burton, 37 years old, will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow in the Mittelstadt Mortuary, with burial in the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Washelli. Mr. Burton, 7741 17th Avenue Northwest, was injured fatally when his automobile struck the rear of a tank truck and trailer at Rainier Avenue and Dearborn Street Friday night. Mr. Burton, born in Twisp, Okanogan County, had lived in Seattle 30 years. He was a member of the Carpet & Linoleum Layer's Union, Local 1232. He was a Navy veteran of the Second World War.
