    1. McGinn Family in Seattle
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McGinn Cook(e) Morris, Smith, Plaxton, Berkland, Coventry Hurd Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pBC.2ACE/3846 Message Board Post: Hi Folks! I am a newbie on this board. I have a 2 part query. Our family was originally in the Northern 13 Colonies but during the revolutionary war they remained loyal and fled to Canada. Most of the children of my great grand father John McGinn were born in the 1860s and 70s, moved west from Ontario early 19teens and some moved directly to Seattle. I am looking for any descendents of Henry and Mary Elizabeth (McGinn) Coventry who had a daughter Yvonne. The Coventrys arrived in Seattle in 1906. Yvonne married Merritt Hurd, date unknown to me, and they had a son Jimmie Hurd who married a Nelda ? They in turn had children Lee, (boy)Lonnie (boy) and Lyn (girl)and that is all I know. The other Seattle mystery in my research centers on Margaret Jane McGinn, born April 6th, 1865 in Lansdowne Twp Leeds County, Ontario, Canada . She married William Thomas Graham in 1901 in Toronto, Ontario but that marriage did not last. I have recently found Maraget married or common law living with John Berkland 1920, 1930 census and in the city directory 1914 to 1934 . After 1934, John is listed alone until May 13th, 1952 when he died at 77. John Berkland was a "tin Banger" ie Heating ducts and tin smithing etc and he owned his own shop apparently. I can not find any record of Margaret's death, likely in 1934-5 in Seattle. There is no record of marriage known to me either. Can anybody help? Rob McGinn in Thunder Bay, Ontario

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Pitcher, Aldrich Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pBC.2ACE/3844 Message Board Post: I have been searching for info about my great aunt, Hattie Aldrich Pitcher, and her husband, John Edgar Pitcher, since early 1996. I know she died after April 1902 but before the 1910 census. Recently while searching Ancestry.com I came across a John Pitcher, age 79, who died in Seattle on May 18, 1954. Uncle John was born here in Indiana in July 1874 so the age is right for this to be the John Edgar Pitcher I have been searching high and low for since 1996. Aunt Hattie and Uncle John left here (Posey County, IN) in the early 1900's. Is there anyone who could look at his death certificate and see if his parents' names are listed? I know his parents names so that would tell me if this John Pitcher is the one who was married to my Aunt Hattie. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Darlene Kingsbury

    1. Beverly and Robert from Seattle 1949
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pBC.2ACE/3842 Message Board Post: I am a female adoptee searching for my birthparents. The adoption agency has provided me with the following non-identifying information: Her first name was Beverly. She was in her late teens (17 or 18) at the time of my birth (June 1949.) She attended PUBLIC SCHOOL in Seattle, where she met my birthfather, Robert. He was older (early 20s) and had worked in a box factory following his graduation from high school, but joined the Navy thinking that it would help him provide better for Beverly and their baby if they would be able to marry. I believe Robert was a 1946 graduate of high school and that he met Beverly during his senior year when she was a freshman. Beverly would have graduated in 1949 had she not been expecting me. Beverly was about 5’4” tall, brown hair with blue eyes and is described as “very beautiful.” She wanted to be a model or a teacher like her mother. Her father was a butcher and is described as bald. He may have owned a meat market in Seattle. Robert had dark wavy brown hair and blue eyes. He played the saxophone and enjoyed participating in athletics. Beverly was of Scot/Irish descent. Robert was Irish. Beverly’s mother refused to allow Beverly and Robert to marry. Beverly was sent to a maternity home in Seattle pending my birth. In the file it says that Beverly’s mother planned to explain Beverly’s absence from school by telling people that Beverly needed to go to California for “health” reasons. I was born in Seattle at Doctors' Hospital, however. When Beverly was about 19 there was an article in a magazine about her running off and marrying without any family members in attendance other than one sister. (She did not marry my birth father.) The article was torn from a magazine and sent to the adoption agency approximately two years after my birth. I have not been given any indication of who may have sent the agency the article. Thank you for any information and for taking the time to read this.

Someone else gave me the 1928 Phone book and Harriett is with Jean then. He is French from Canada and speaks French. He is much older than Harriett and I would like to find Byrd offspring from Ernest and I was told there is a large population of them in Tacoma or Pierce Co. and I will look into that. I have searched for the whereabouts of this woman for as long as I have researched genealogy and it is only a few years but have never had luck as I looked in MI where her mother's folks and siblings were. And I had a postcard addressed to her when married to Mr. Byrd and did not know it was her due to it was written to her and it is a picture of her and Ernest at about a year old. So her first married name was looking me in the face all this time. I will be glad to find the first name of Ernest's father and I am unsure of how to trace Harriet after her divorce from Mr Fortier. So I have gone to the WA State Archives and see if they have dates and names and I have not heard from them yet. I am excited to find this young man and also wonder if she had more children after Mr. Fortier. Let me know how to go about getting the birth certificate of Ernest. Anita
