    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Baker, Monagin Classification: Marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pBC.2ACE/3902 Message Board Post: From Seattle Post Intelligencer Dec 7 1890, page 9 Baker-Monagin A very quiet wedding party at the residence of the officiating clergyman, John F. Damon, 910 Fifth Street, on the evening of December 6th, witnessed the ceremony of marriage between Captain William E. Baker of the Puget Mill Company’s steamer Yakima, and Miss Clara B. Monagin, late of Columbia Falls, in the State of Maine. Captain Baker has been steamboating for the Washington and Puget Mill Companies for the past ten years, and many a nauticus will envy his good taste and fortune in the selection of a mate. The bride has sojourned at Port Gamble but a brief period, coming out to wed one already affianced, yet her friends are many and appreciative. Her frost bound acquaintances in the old Eastern home may well be surprised when they read that the bride was presented with and wore a half-blown glory de Dijon, a Reine Marie Henrietta and a La France rose just plucked from the open garden. Captain and Mrs. Baker returned last night to Port Gamble, where they will r! eside.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cullity, Shannon, Consign, Cummings Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pBC.2ACE/3901 Message Board Post: Seattle Post Intelligencer Dec 7 1890, page 8 They Broke Into a House. The Cullity Gang Ply their Vocation Without Success. Frank Shannon and Fred Consign, both members of the Eugene Cullity gang of boy burglars, were caught in the act of breaking into a house on Pike and Sixth streets in broad daylight yesterday. At 2 o’clock in the afternoon Officer Cummings detected three boys with a burglars’ “jimmy” at work on the window of a residence. He recognized two of the boys and caught them. The third ran around the block and placing Shannon and Consign in charge of two citizens, the officer made a vain chase after the one who broke away. When he returned a few moments later, perspiring and out of breath, he found that the other two boys were gone, also the men he left them with. Up to a late hour the boys had not been caught. (I am wondering what this says about the state of affairs in Seattle at the time....)

    2. Hello List: Don't know when Home Undertaking Co. went out of business, but the old records (from 1923) are held by: Evergreen-Washelli 11111 Aurora Ave. N. Seattle, WA 98133 (206) 362-5200 800-755-1350 http://www.evergreen-washelli.com The last I knew, Evergreen-Washelli charges $10.00 per name lookup and I have been told they just put all requests in a pile and only do lookups once a month. The people there do not seem very enthusiastic about looking up the old records. There is e-mail contact on their website. Gloria Lester >>^. .^<<

    3. Its a little difficult to tell from the maps. What makes it more difficult is that many of the street directional indicators changed sometime in the 50's I believe, e.g. part or all of 12th Ave N became 12 Ave E. With the current maps, this address would lie in an area which was redeveloped to accommodate our already overcrowded Interstate 5 through downtown Seattle. Punching your address into MapQuest produces an address with the appendage West on it. I have not checked to see who is at that address. Eliminating the number produces a range of numbers from 1500 to 2299 -- no 1400 group. Selecting 1500, which would have been in the block adjacent to the north, indicates that address is immediately on the north side of the freeway - i.e., your address was swallowed up by the freeway. There was a funeral home very near there for several years, just east of the freeway, called Bonney-Watson. They have apparenlty since moved, but you might try to track them down to see if they might be able to help. 3. The address would be 5224 20th Ave N.E., Seattle, WA 98105. As you can see, the Seattle 5, Washington has expanded into a zip code. According to the King County Assessor Property report, the house, built in 1914, still exists. It is about I/2 mile north of the University of Washington and about I/2 mile east of Interstate 5. The house sits on a 4,100' lot (0.09 acre.) It is a one story house with a full basement. It is not a large house, having 1150 sq. ft. on the main floor and a full basement.
