Powers, 87, dean of the University of Washington's College of Education for 21 years, died in his Seattle home last Thursday. He was born in Hastings, Nebraska, raised in Tacoma, Washington, and graduated from the University of Washington in 1923 and went on to complete his doctorate degree. Powers became an instructor in education at the U of W and became dean of the College of Education until 1961. Survivors include his wife, Oma, and a brother, Clarke J. Burial will be in Eugene, Oregon. The Seattle P-I states the memorial service was held at the Acacia Funeral Home.

It's my understanding that a burial permit is always required. If you check a death certificate it usually gives the date when the permit was issued. Most of the time it is issued on the day of death or within the next couple of days after death. I have death certificates back to the 1890's from several different states & the death permit date is listed on each.
