    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pBC.2ACE/4060.1 Message Board Post: The Suzzallo Library at the University of Washington campus in Seattle has extensive microfilm files of not only the Seattle newspapers even further back that the date you seek, but also of many newspapers from all over the U.S. I live over an hour away from there, so it's not convenient for me to get to Seattle very often for research. Also, the parking is costly and located in the U District, since on street parking is almost never available, and is quite a hike onto the campus to the library. If you don't locate a volunteer to go there and look it up for you, you might try contacting the library and seeing what the cost is to have it done by them for you.

I remember the Crescent Stores. There may also been another one in Spokane???. My Aunt took me there in Seattle when I was 16 yr.s old and bought me several skirts there in abt 1943/4. I am forwarding your message to the Wa King Co. site. You may get more information. Also ask for information from City Directories and old ph. books as well. I am searching for information about the descendants of Dr. James Ford and America Holton Ford. One of them, a granddaughter, lived in Seattle. All information and documents received will become part of our Ford family exhibit with credit to the contributors. The granddaughter, Nellie Holton Ford (b. 1880 here in Wabash), married Edward Crosby of Spokane on Aug 29 1912 at the bride's family home in Hartford City, Indiana. Edward was a partner in the Crescent Dept. Store at that time. Subsequently, Crescent Dept. Store opened another store in Seattle, and Edward and Nellie were active in Seattle's civic and social life. They had no children. Edward was killed in a vehicle-pedestrian accident on the streets of Seattle on March 3 1943. I have been able to obtain only the basic newpaper "funeral service notice" from the library records -- apparently there was not an "obit" printed. However, we feel that Edward's death may have been addressed as a NEWS STORY instead of an obit because (1) Edward Crosby's status in Seattle's business community, and (2) the city had a "street safety" program in effect in 1943 to reduce deaths/injuries from vehicle accidents. Can anyone help us find a news story about Edward Crosby's accident? Also, where is he buried? Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.
