In the 1910 census of the 3rd Ward of Seattle, King County, WA, Zoe Peabody, 21, born in CA, was with her husband Hector C. Peabody, 23, and their one-year-old daughter Hazel Mae Peabody. Hector C. Peabody is listed in the 1920 census with another wife, Vivian, and Hazel M. age 11, is with them. I think that Zoe Peabody died sometime between 1910 and 1920. Does anybody know the exact date when Mrs. Zoe Peabody died? Can anyone help me?
I've "rescued" a group of old photographs all belonging to the SHIFFERT Family. The first is a photograph of James Edward SHIFFERT which was taken at the Schwartz Studio in Kansas City. The photograph was probably taken in the 1880's with James likely around 12-13 years old at the time. The second photograph is one of William Jacob SHIFFERT and was taken at the Shiffert Studio in Salina, Kansas, probably when he was about 12-15 years old. The photograph is dated 1891 and also notes that William is the "father of Steven and Harry" and that their "Mother is Edna "Nettie" R. SALVAGE". The third photograph appears to be of Daniel Auge SHIFFERT "aka D. A. SHIFFERT brother of S. H. S.". The photograph is stamped D. A. SHIFFERT, Pottstown, PA as well. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's and includes the subject holding a fish. I would guess that Daniel was in his 40's at the time it was taken. The final item is a funeral card for Lee R. SHIFFERT died September 15, 1891 at age 6 years, 7 months, and 2 days. A portion of the back of the card appears to suggest that it was printed in Washington State. Based on limited research I was able to find record of James E. SHIFFERT in the 1920 census for Oxford, KS with records providing the following information: James E. SHIFFERT, age 40, born IL, parents born PA/IL, a Grocery Store Clerk Lottie E. SHIFFERT, wife, age 40, born KS, parents born England Vere M. SHIFFERT, dau, age 15, born KS James Edward SHIFFERT died 13 Jan 1951 and his wife Lottie died 21 Feb 1976 and both are buried in the Old Mission Mausoleum in Wichita, KS I was also able to locate census information for William SHIFFERT living in the home of R. C. WASHBURN a Hotel Keeper, the year 1900 living in Topeka, KS with records indicating the following information: William SHIFFERT, servant, age 22, born Jan 1878, born PA, parents born PA, a Cigar Maker California death records indicate the William J. SHIFFERT b. 5 Jan 1878, born PA, died in Santa Cruz Co. CA on 23 April 1971. I also find a California death records for one of the two sons referenced on the back of the photograph. Harry Doty SHIFFERT b. 4 Dec 1905, Mother's Maiden Name was SAVAGE, born OK, died in Stanislaus Co, CA on 29 Oct 1981. Social Security records state that Steven R. SHIFFERT b. 17 Apr 1910 died in North Bend, WA on 24 Oct 2004. Steven's SS Card was issued first in California so it is likely that is were he grew up. I believe that the man in the last photograph is probably Daniel SHIFFERT b. 15 Mar 1859 in Windsor Castle, PA to parents Ruben SHIFFERT and Susanna AUGE. Daniel married Rachel Ann SHOLLENBERGER on the 22nd of Dec 1870 in Berks County, PA. I believe that Daniel died 30 Mar 1916. During the 1880 census Daniel SHIFFERT (named spelled SCHIFFERT) and his family were living in Pottstown, PA with records indicating the following: Daniel SCHIFFERT, age 30, born PA, a Watch Maker, parents born PA Rachel SCHIFFERT, wife, age 27, born PA, keeping house, parents born PA Lysingten SCHIFFERT, son, age 8, born PA, at School William A. THROPE, other, age 28, born NY, a Watch Maker, parents born England During the 1910 census of Pottstown, PA the Daniel SHIFFERT Family is recorded as follows: Daniel A. SHIFFERT, age 61, married 40 years, born PA, parents born PA Rachel A. SHIFFERT, wife, age 58, married 40 years, 1 child/1 living, born PA, parents born PA Lyington A. SHIFFERT, son, age 38, married 15 years, born PA, an Automobile Clerk Louisa A. SHIFFERT, dau-in-law, age 39, married 15 years, 1 child/1 living, born PA, parents born PA Dorothy A. SHIFFERT granddau, age 5, born PA, parents born PA I was also able to find record of S. H. SHIFFERT living in Salina, KS during the 1900 census with records providing the following information: (I believe that his son "Will" noted below is William Jacob SHIFFERT listed above and pictured in the photograph) S. H. SHIFFERT, age 66, born Aug 1833, married 44 years, born PA, parents born PA, a House Mover Mary SHIFFERT, wife, age 63, born Aug 1836, married 44 years, 11 children/9 living, born PA, parents born PA Fred R. SHIFFERT, son, age 27, born Dec 1872, just recently married, born PA, a Photographer Margret SHIFFERT, dau-in-law, age 21, born Dec 1878, just recently married, no children, born MO, parents born VA/MO Will SHIFFERT, son, age 22, born PA, parents born PA, a Cigar Maker (I believe this means that he was counted twice during this census) I'm hoping to locate someone from this SHIFFERT Family so that these wonderful old items can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
