Did you mean the city cemetery (Evergreen Cemetery) which also includes the former Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery? I checked my inventory of photos from Holy Family Cemetery at Krain and they are not there.

All the death records for 1907-1950 [and, yes, that includes film of the actual death certificates themselves!] can be ordered on loan from them. The index rolls, however, would be of the most initial interest to you. These are available many, many places--Seattle Public, Tacoma Public, University of Washington, and also available through LDS. Two filmings (one more legible than the other!) are available, and the indexes are separated by decade (1910-1919, 1920-1929), so you would need two rolls or more. Washington State Vital Records will give you certified copies for a fee, of course. If the Urbanek home was in Des Moines, there is a chance they were actually residents of the Masonic Home at Zenith.

Mittelstadt's customers for this era generally went to Washelli (formerly known as Oak Lake) or to Crown Hill. In extremely rare cases they might also have gone to Mount Pleasant on Queen Anne Hill or another cemetery close by. Crown Hill's burial records are sparse, having been impacted by an office fire in the early 1920s, but a burial location might be obtainable.

The state archives or vital records began keeping records at the state level in the summer of 1907... even then it was a bit loose for the first few years. Birth Certificates pre summer 1907 are county records. The counties did keep track of those records that were presented to them... and these records were NOT sent to Olympia for the state archives. The Seattle Public Library has a terrific NW room and will answer emails as well as mail and phone calls. Good Luck

I am trying to find a the buriel place and date of death for both Hans Anderson and his wife Caroline. They were living in Seattle from approximately 1911 through the 1920. I believe they died some time in the 20's. Was hoping that someone might have some cemetery books for this area that could help me find where they are buried and what year they died. Hans was born between 1859 and 1861 and Christine was born in either 1855/56. Thanks, Paula
