I am trying to trace any descendents of a Henry Wagstaff and his wife Dorothy Peck. I believe they had a son called John Peck Wagstaff in 1752, but know nothing further. Dorothy's mother's maiden name was Pomfret, and lived in the Luton area of Beds. Many thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Myrtle Scott was his wife, my great-grandmother. They had two sons, Ollie Charles, called Charles, and Omer. Charles was my grandfather. He married Lillian Patterson and they had one child, Patsy Ruth Wagstaff, my mother. She married Wayne Eugene Doughty, and had three children, Freda (me), Sharon and Mitchell. I've never known when or how this side of my family came to North America; I would be interested to know anything you might know about this. Len Johnson Wagstaff was not around when I was growing up, as he had left his family. Charles and Omer were raised pretty much by an aunt, Bernice Toon. Myrtle Scott did live in Oklahoma City and have a relationship with Charles and Omer and their families; she was 4 foot 11 inches, and was a lady barber, and had beautiful white, white skin, like alabaster. She is the daughter of Andrew Joseph Wagstaff and Elizabeth Edie. I believe Elizabeth died in Ill. abt 1880. Andrew is on the 1885 census of Harper, KS with Mollie & Jesse. The head of the home is Johnson Wagstaff & Maggie Brown. If you hhave any links to Maggie Brown's b&d, I would love to have it. Johnson's father, Andrew seems to have died in 1886-1900. There is no census for 1890. I find him in Red River,TX 1900 a widow. He died abt 1901-1909. Their 3 sons are boarders in different homes after 1900. Thanks... The mining accident was March 20, 1895 and Sarah set sail to join Gilbert in America March 20, 1895 and was listed as a widow. My grandma Ruby Schrader Wallace gave me a box of funeral programs and obits she had collected over the years. I figured they would help someone out. Glad they were useful.
