GIRARD DIES AT 67 Alexander C. (Jerry) Girard, former Seattle newspaper man, died yesterday (1946) at his home a 14507 Aurora Avenue, Seattle, WA. He was born in this city on July 26, 1879 to Peter J. and Emma (Megler) Girard. He started newspaper work on the Washingtonian in Hoquiam in 1902; and later went to the Aberdeen World. He was a coroner of Grays Harbor County in 1904 and 1905, and was assistant assessor there from about 1912 to 1920. He became police reporter for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 1921, and later became publicity man for the old Admiral Oriental Line. From 1927 to 1929 he was staff photographer for the Seattle Star. In 1930, he opened a restaurant, The Golden Tub, on Aurora Avenue and operated it until his retirement two years ago. Surviving are his widow, Cora; a son, Alfred M. Girard of Pittsburg, California; a brother, Stephen A. Girard and a sister, Mrs. Mina B. Parker, both of Hoquiam. He was a member of the Seattle Press Club and Seattle Aerie No. 1 of the Eagles.
