    3. Elza Morgan and wife Prudence (Everly) are found in the 1900 Grays Harbor, Washington census. This couple had been married in Monongalia co, West Virginia 22 Feb 1866. The family is found in Monongalia Co, W.Vir in the 1870 and 1880 census. and then in 1900 Grays Harbor, Washington census. So far I have found only the marriage record of one of their children - daughter Florence L. Morgan married Caleb Jenkins, 27 Jul 1896 in Grays Harbor Co. This was rather a late marriage for Florence as she was born about 1866. The other children of Elza and Prudence Morgan were: Thomas H. b. Dec 1869 George W. b abt 1877 Jesse L. b. abt 1879 and died in Manila Bertha b. about 1879 Mary b. 6 May 1880 Would like details on these children - spouses, dates, and death data. When and where did Elza and Prudence Morgan die? Thank you, Kathleen Rizer

"A young Connecticut Yankee from Granby invested in 101 acres of Pittsford land in 1791. Six years later, he added to his holdings in Pittsford. Meanwhile, he and his wife had started raising a family, and it was not until after 1803 that Rufus and Rosannah Messinger came west to Northfield. They lived in Pittsford first. In 1811, they "swapped" their Pittsford land for Brighton land owned by Steven Lusk. They lived on the south side of Elmwood Avenue west of Clover Street, where they reared eight children - six girls and two boys. When Smallwood was divided and the Town of Brighton came into being in 1814, Messenger became Brighton's first welfare officer, as well as a pathmaster of the town. Mr. Messenger died in Brighton January 20, 1835, leaving a will with the interesting provision that if Rosannah remarried, she should receive only the mandated one-third of this estate. But, 27 acres of the farm were to be given to his son, Rufus, then living in Parma, and the remainder of the land to his son, Warren. The girls were to receive $100. Lavina (died of 'conjunction' at the age of 46 in 1850) married Jonathan Gale and remained in Brighton along with Warren and Nancy. Three of the girls were living in Rochester: Anna, wife of Jacob Shaffer; Harriet, wife of Silas Darrow; and Philinda, wife of John Neale. Fanny had married Lucius Judson and gone to Michigan to live. As soon as Warren received a clear title from his mother, brothers, and sisters, he and his wife, Jane A., sold the Brighton farm to Isaac Moore. Young Rufus and his wife, Eliza, moved into Rochester, where he was employed as a carpenter." The town names are a bit confusing in this excerpt. This whole area was named Northfield until 1808, when the name was changes to Boyle. Then, in 1810, the Town of Penfield separated from Boyle. In 1813 Boyle was again renamed. This time to Smallwood, which divided into Brighton and Pittsford in 1814.
