    3. Hi Georgiana, Do you know whether SCW's work covers any of the WADE lines in the Carolinas? Thanks, Eldon -----Original Message----- From: Georgiamhh@aol.com [mailto:Georgiamhh@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2001 3:31 PM To: WADE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WADE-L] Stuart C. Wade In reply to the question: Did SC Wade include any Wades from Virginia in the CDs Stuart C. Wade worked for the NYC Public Library during the late 1800s. I do not have the date he died, but believe it was early 1900s. It includes SCWs personal correspondence with Wade families. He had a form that he mailed and they responded with the completed form. He had marriage records, military records. New York City Newspaper clippings. A letter from General George Washington to Colonel Nathaniel Wade during the American Revolution, regarding Benedict Arnold. There are pictures of houses, buildings, books, etc. I think perhaps, the NYC Library microfilmed these 2700 items that were in his files. Does anyone know when the first microfilm machine was built? I went to London last summer, to find the parents of my Edward Wade b. 1611 in London and died in York Co. Virginia. They definitely knew of Stuart C. Wade at the Guildhall Library. In the CD 4 - page 84 SCW believed that the Wade brothers in York Co, VA, 1640 census were descendants of Sir Wm. Wade - Gov of the Tower of London. See Chapter 5 ~ which was never published. (I do hope the answer may be in the 2700 pages, as this was my main purpose for buying the microfilm and having it converted to CDs. If you have researched in the Library with microfilm, you realize every page is not perfect. Some are old and torn, however, most are good). We have been so busy in making CDs that I have not had the time to read, but I will as soon as I can. We have tried to keep the cost to a bare minimum, because we feel this is the best background history of the Wade Family, that I could ever hope to find, and wanted to pass on to my Cousins. SCW has more information on the Early English Wades, than I could ever hope to research in my lifetime. SCW was the main Wade contributor that is listed with the Library of Congress, as far as the records in my library show. Maybe someone out there will continue the Wade History, and add to Stuart Charles Wade's works. ============== INDEX: CD I Vol.1-3 English Wades Vol.4-8 Mass.
