    1. [WADE-L] Virus alert
    2. Margaret Behel
    3. This morning I received a virus called also known as W32.Sircam. Worm @ mm (I have added the spaces between the words) and W32/Sircam . Worm @ mm and Backdoor.Sircam The virus uses it's own SMTP server for the email routine. I received it with what appeared to be a student file attached with a subject line "I send you this file in order to have your advice". Norton's and Housecalls will detect the virus, but the worm infects the registry and has to be removed manually for complete removal. Please go to http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/pf/w32.sircam.worm@mm.html for complete information about removing the virus. Please accept my apologies if you received an infected file from me.

    3. I confirm that the sirCam virus is real... We are fighting it at work right now. Most of the scan programs tell you that you have it, but you have to replace all the infected files yourself! Robert Wade
